In a deal worth almost worth at least $500 million dollars, Disney buys Maker Studios, a very large Youtube multichannel network, known for such youtubers as TotalBiscuit, ChuggaaConroy, Pewdiepie Yogscast and markiplier. According to Disney, Maker Studios will bring it “advanced technology” and insight into consumers’ discovery and interaction with short-form online videos, including Disney content — especially among millennial auds.This purchase seems similar to Warner Bros. $18 million investement in Machinama ealier this year. The deal is expected to close in late June. 

What I read: "Disney buys Pewdiepie for half a billion dollars."

Smart deal from Disney.. Content is King and now they own some of the most watched youtube channels.. Getting to those millions of young people is far more worth then that 500 million price tag

I bet that they spent a dollar for PewDiePie and the rest for the other Youtube users.

So let me get this straight... this basically means that the youtubers under Maker Studio will have to positively promote Disney products? Correct me if I'm wrong.
