You didn't have this epiphany until now? It is known.

Took you a while. And who else would there be to blame but Nintendo?

The short answer is EA, the long answer is Electronic Arts.

The WiiU is having some difficulties and Nintendo could really help the situation by not being so cheap regarding online services for the Wii. The reality is that most of the consoles spend a lot more time doing things other than gaming and that the loyalty angle is being rewarded more and more. Nintendo clearly gets this with things like StreetPass. You carry your 3DS around and use it like normal and are basically rewarded for doing so.

Nintendo had a bunch of fun little services on the Wii. I doubt the resources devoted towards them ate up much especially compared to the good will they generate. Instead of turning them off, they should have doubled down and added even more of them. Then the Wii U becomes the place where you pick up your daily coins for sharing your views on a few questions in terms of voting. It is where you get to download the promoted track of the week or watch the promoted movie trailers and tv shows all for a few measly coins. Companies like Starbucks and Apple understand how you don't just sell something, you craft a lifestyle around it.

Sony was late to understanding this but they currently have the best solution by far in this area and I'm talking trophies. I'm talking music videos, movies, what have you.

Nintendo threw out the good will of 100 million consumers for the cost of a few measly servers. It's ridiculous. It is the worst kind of advertising and word of mouth.

Nintendo should be releasing a free app to make all Wii's into DVD players. Will many people really use them for that? Probably not but does it generate good buzz and good will? Yes. Nintendo should be cross promoting between Wii, 3ds and Wii U. They should have, in as much as they are capable, certain services that go easily between all three and that improve the synergy within their whole system.

Nintendo is building up walls when they should be tearing them down and since they are the only console maker not charging money to get in to services, online play, etc.

They can't actually do this, because they copied Sony and went with cheaper hardware later in the machines life, and said hardware cannot read dem DVDs. It's like they WANT us to give our money to other people who make all such newfangled technology.

Shouldn't you blame the consumers?

Cause even if there weren't any games they wanted to play they should buy it anyway?

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

Honestly nintendo consoles have been a flop since the first play station

How is the Wii a flop when it sold more than the PS3? Wow that Nintendo hate lol.

Congrats. It's not a "flop" yet, by any stretch.

Struggling? Yes. "Flop/failure"? No. It still has sold about 6 million units, and is about to get a big-time boost from some of those big-time games it's been missing.

Cool thread bro. Cheers.

What big-time games? Mario Kart 8? Wont do much more than NSMBU and SM3DW already have for the system.

People have been complaining about the lack of marketing by Nintendo since their lack of marketing for the 3DS before the launch of the Wii U.

Wii U marketing is terrible. Nintendo Directs are usually lacking in the information, and their external marketing campaigns have been non-existant. They don't show up to trade shows, it is like they want people to forget about them. It was a terrible time to cut marketing too, right at the transitional phase of a generation when a lot of people are looking at new platforms. Their strong Wii and DS marketing worked wonders the first half of last generation, it is very odd that they decided to go with much weaker marketing for the Wii U and 3DS. Nintendo's marketing department sucks this generation.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.
