C) E3 = Biggest western gaming event

A+B+C doesn't equal to: Hey, let's only show a Zelda spinoff based on a game genre that doesn't sell in the west.

Likely the latter, where they could be ready to show it but still feel that other games deserve more attention so they won't talk about it as much.

I somewhat expect this too. Come E3 they are going to need to start building some new hype for the WiiU, a short Zelda teaser would do wonders in that respect.

Zelda U will be shown with full trailer, 100%. They are banking on it.

True, but my question is basically will they scale it back further, or did they learn their lesson?  The lack of a press conference was seen as a big miss by nintendo last year.

They said they would show it this year didn't they? If they do not show it then I would be very concerned that a proper Wii U Zelda was not coming to the console- They owe current console owners a proper update on it for sure- IF they did not talk about it at e3, what else would they discuss? It would be nice for them to at least confirm/update us on the games they mentioned at their Jan/Feb 2013 Direct- some of those games have not been mentioned since
