Forums - Gaming Discussion - why would you buy a new console at launch?

Ok ok. I bought the n64 at launch. Because mario 64 blew my mind.

But this generation? Were there any games that were so great at launch for the 3 new systems? Not for me.

Is the impact different just for me, or is the quality less at a launch??

I know i'm waiting for 1 more year before i buy a new system.

Because it's from Sony. I'm not gonna lie.

I get the other systems somewhere down the line though. But only PlayStation at launch.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Being serious though I bought WiiU at launch and it was a mistake imo.
PS4 I bought for MGSV:GZ, DW8XLCE and DriceClub -_-

Because at £349 its not that expensive at launch, id rather have a year of fun with it, that save £50 12-18 months from now.

Even if your just playing the same multiplat games, for the sake of saving £50 in the future id rather have, better graphics, better online chat, better controller, super fast OS, access to the 4 games already given away on plus.

Plus Infamous graphics wise is just drool, if that is a gen 1 game, bring on the next wave!

Consoles worth getting at launch:

Obviously because of Super Mario 64.

Very good price point and many games available at launch. REmake and Metroid Prime followed soon after.

Halo turned out to be one of the best launch games ever. Seeing the ring arc into the distance in and of itself confirmed the Xbox to be worth the purchase. (the price dropped quite soon though - and it was substantial, so this one is slightly debatable)

Because I'll buy it eventually, why not now?

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

We got the WiiU at launch because my sons wanted it and because we already had the Wii. Because of the backward compatibility with both games and controllers we instantly had five player local game compatibility. We picked it up with Super Mario and also Black Ops 2. Over time we have added more games. The kid use the Gamepad a lot. I like browsing with the Gamepad and television on occasion as well. Other than that it is mostly local four play games like Super Mario, Just Dance, Rayman and again the COD type stuff for the kids on two player. The Wii games still getting the most use are Super Mario Strikers and Super Smash Bros. of course.

The old Wii gained used Wii-mote and has become nothing but a streaming box.

We also have a PS3 and I have to say Sony has REALLY stepped up their game in the last 12-14 months. It didn't even play games yesterday. We were just having fun building playlists with the music service they have added. This was while Tomb Raider was downloading in the background for free as part of the Plus subscription we have for the year. They've been adding amazing value and building a very nice online ecosystem that hooks you in. Knowing that there would be several plus games waiting makes it much easier to consider a PS4.

I like video games and I always want the latest tech.
