Forums - Gaming Discussion - Unreal Enigne 4 demo on smartphones (nexus 5)

Above is a video of environments rendered on a Google Nexus 5 smartphone powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor. The graphics are stunning and it’s hard to believe that we will find these sorts of experiences on a mobile or tablet device.

Doooom.. you (handheld) console peasants are doomed!

Looks pretty good. Texture resolution is decent, same with the shader quality. Geometry is very simple/blocky and the Tower and quite a few of the mountains in the background probably are 2D though.

There is no doubt the Nexus 5 is way more capable than the handhelds, but first somebody has to develop those games that show the difference and offer gameplay of the same quality as the premier handheld games.

Saw it yesterday. Looks great. But I am more concerned about power consumption of these type of visuals.

I have seen some of these demo videos and I really cannot wait for titles that will be created using the Unreal Engine 4. I do hope that the games will be compatible with most smartphones though and that it will also bring us an overall better experience on mobile. Right now, it’s looking all bright and shiny indeed!

yeah, i agree with the very simple/blocky look.  it had more of a nice art style than real techincal wow.

...on the other hand, i was at the apple store this weekend and i tried the demo games they had preloaded.  all 4 i tried we're pretty but had single touch input only.  can't be too hard to make a pretty game when the only interaction you need to program for is the "push to win" button.

Demos are like cats. Everyone cries the first time they run one over on the highway but then you kind of get used to it.

Mobile gaming is the future

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

Battery would probably last under an hour running a game like that.

Nvidea today announced their succesor to their Tegra K1
