Blue3, you need a reality check because the EA games profit more from the Wii games than the PS3/360 ones. If you compare sales and then put in the profits and development costs, more money is made from the Wii version due to the low dev costs. Unless the other version sold MUCH more, I highly doubt that they make more money from the PS3/360 ports.

Wow you wii fans really live in lala land, here is some reality for you.

Madden 360 - 1,600,000
Madden PS3 -   380,000
Madden Wii  -   353,000

Call of Duty 3

WII -  298,000
PS3 -  238,000
360 - 1,080,000

yahh iam Soooo sure wii was more profitable for them LOL.

You just proved the point, it was much more profitable to make the Wii versions than the PS3 versions

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

LOL wii fans are delusional to the bitter end, those PS3 games are 360 ports.  They did not cost 20 miilion to appear on the Ps3.

You do realize it costs a lot more to make the PS3 game than the Wii game right? So if the sales are near equal the Wii game pulled in more profit right? That said expect two main categories of third-party games this gen: 360/PS3/PC multiplats, and Wii exclusives or Wii/PS2 multiplats.

Call of Duty 3 isn't an EA game, it's an Activision franchise.

What the numbers show is that FPS and sports games sell well on the 360 (surprise considering the audience) and that there's no reason for developers to make the PS3 the leading platform for their games.

I know, but its still 3rd patry game better of on PS3/360 then Wii.

360 to PS3 or PS3 to 360 wahtever. (its easier porting a PS3 game to 360 then 360 to PS3) so theres a reason for the PS3 to be the lead platform.

But Madden (for the Wii) was ported from the PS2/Gamecube/XBox build with enhanced controls and the PS2 version outsold all other versions combined ...

Yep third parties really need to adapt to Nintendo systems. That may be difficult given Nintnendo first party games typical dominance on Nintendo platforms, but I see Nintendo dominating the market over the next two years pretty much everywhere as far as hardware sales go. How bout EA or Rockstar or whoever goes to Nintendo to ask them if we can work on Nintendo franchise like Sega did with F-Zero X on the GC, or how Capcom worked on some of the portable Zelda games. And remember Soul Calibur 2 and how it actually sold the best on the GC because Link was in it. Third parties that aren't Square or Sega or Kanomi and don't have established franchises that will sell well on Nintendo systems need to find other ways to tap into that Nintendo system userbase.

Agreed!

Its not free though, you still have to adapt the game for the PS3, because the architecture and software tools are different, plus you have the PS3 dev kits.

Wii dev costs are a fraction of the PS3 and 360

You have to rember alot of the money they are spending is R&D. Upgrading their texture sets, and such like that. Alot of games call on a universal texture archive for a large chunk of their resources. They also are working on creating 100% new engines, and have massive play-style teams working for the Wii/DS, trying to find the next big thing.

The costs of games will only go down, and today the prices are MUCH higher than they seem, becuase they are paying for universal texture sets, and engines. It's normal for companys that when they start pushing 75-100% of their resources to next gen to take a hit for the first few years. And with the fact there are now 3 groups of consoles.

PS3/360, Wii, PS2, PSP, DS

While 4 years ago, it was.

x-box, GC/PS2, GBA

That and EA has had a horrible year this year. WTF was worth buying?

 Army of Two

Anyway, if the developers think that they are not going to get enough back, they should just port it to the PS2, with a user base of 115,000,000 even if 0.5% like it, there is still more than 500,000 people buying the game
