Google Keyboard's autocorrect gets better if you let it mine your data

Keyboard software updates for Android, or any other mobile device, are relatively unexciting because... well, you know, keyboards. But, if you happen to have opted for Google's particular stock version by way of the Play Store, you're about to get a better autocorrect experience. A new update that's currently rolling out introduces the option for Personalized Suggestions, meaning the app can mine data from any other Google service you use to better serve your swift typing needs. Don't worry, all that info is apparently stored locally on your phone. And it's not like you'll have to dig through menu options to find this particular setting, either. Google's put it front and center so the first time you fire up the keyboard post-update, a helpful alert message will appear above the keys to make sure you know the deal. You can always turn it off, however, and return to a life less finely autocorrected. The choice is yours: one path leads to unintentional humor and the other to accuracy.

Personaly i'm using less and less google services cause this stuff like this for me is crossing a line.. they actualy record evey keystroke you make in any google services.. so it will be tied to your personal account and not just on your phone..

No thanks Google. I use very few Google products and services as it is.

It doesn't matter.  This is about searching through apps, since a large chunk of computing is moving to mobile and therefore apps.  Facebook is already doing this, and it is a good thing in my opinion, bc I want mobile advadvertising to make more money than the pitiful amount it is currently generating.  Also for those wa to blame google for this, just as much blame should be put on developers, bc these companies basically have to allow google to do this, so that their bots will reach the dark nether regions of the web, apps.

I'll try this. I downloaded some other keyboard from the playstore cause the Samsung one didn't have autocorrect.

Nice. I'm all for it. Their keyboard is always misunderstanding my swipes. I am updating now.

I'd love to have an autocorrect that is not retarded. I'm intrigued.

I thought they already were. I love how well my devices know me. I want Google to know everything. I'm not paranoid about the data because frankly it makes my interactions with their devices and services more enjoyable than it has been with any other OS ever. I love the almost predictive nature. I hardly have to type in more than a letter or two before it's got words and websites completed. It practically finishes my sentences.

but autocorrect is EviL!
