Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why Final Fantasy 15 can easily run on Wii U

Perhaps the Wii U can run it at 720p@30 with some downgrades, and while it would still look fantastic, the real issue is that the target demographic for the more "modern" FF games is not largely appealing to Nintendo gamers. The old FF games were of a different type, and they've long lost this luster and as a person who played EVERY FF game up through FFXIII, even IF they brought it to the Wii U, I see it selling poorly. The real issue is the cost-profit, not so much the graphical capabilities.

It's not the issue on whether it can run it or not: it can. The PS2 could run it if it were downgraded enough graphically. The problem is, while the Xbox One and PS4 are relatively easy to cross-develop, optimizing for the Wii U would take a lot more development time and money, and probably wouldn't even sell that well.

I'd rather keep Bravely Default on 3DS with its chibi character style than risk getting the emo characters that SE seems to think everyone wants in their console games (I'm looking at you Lightning)

The real question is why Kingdom Hearts 3 couldn't run on Wii U...

At least KH has a history of some decent sales on Nintendo systems...unlike a certain Xbone company.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

I don't think anyone claims that some modified version of FFXV couldn't run on the Wii U. The problem is that the architecture is so fundamentally different and underpowered that porting it to Wii U would require more resources than they would get back from sales. If it were an x86 architecture console like the Xbox One, porting it would be nearly risk free.

Desktop: AMD Phenom X4 955, ATI Radeon 7950 :: Laptop: Intel i7-3532QM, ATI Radeon 7670m

Consoles: 3DS XL, PS Vita, Zelda 3DS, PS3 Super Slim, DSi, PSP Go, PS3 Fat, Wii, GameCube, PS2

Now Playing: Metroid Prime 2, Dark Souls, Fallout: New Vegas, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Persona 4: Golden

"there is no huge difference between Wii U's raw power and xone's/ps4's"
Well that is just delusional rubbish. There is a huge difference between xbone and ps4, let alone those two against the wiiu......

except what they showed of FF XV was probably an upscale from the already in development ps3 version FF v XIII...

the game from the trailer.. doesn't look nexgen.. like infamous does.. or .. maybe even Killzone..

most nexgen games haven't looked exactly nexgen yet.. despite ps4 being 10 times more powerful than ps3

Well, even the PS3 could run it, maybe with some performance issues, but it would run...

It will not be released because Square knows it will not sell enought to justify the port, only that.

If you compare the gameplay from Versus 13 and FFXV they made the battles way bigger, the stuff we saw in Versus 13 had battle in very narrow passageways, I think the biggest was a street.  I dont think FFXV as it is now can run on PS3 at an acceptable preformance level.

imo FF v XIII on ps3 is like MGS gz on ps3 vs MGS gz on ps4, based on what has been shown..

Difference is way bigger, the detail, specifically in the environments, is way higher and the scale of the battles looks to have bee increased drastically.  Before you just saw that big dog thing as the only enemy on the screen, compare that to when you see him in FFXV and the dozens of other enemies in that one area, not to mention it looks a lot better.
