Price, messaging/marketing, carry over success from the end of last gen, brand power long term, publicity.

I can't quantify any of them because I feel the whole is greater than the sum of its parts but I'm 95% sure of myself and if you disagree you're a walrus.

if you read this thread you will notice that many people are still in denial about mainly 4 things on the xbox one:

1 - It is selling much less than MS was hoping for

2 - It is significantly less powerfull than the PS4

3 - It should cost significantly less than the PS4

4 - Gold is bad for consumers, it charges you for "features" that should be just there, like on ANY other device ever made

As long as people are arguing against these points there will be people out there putting efforts to slap them back into consciousness.

Playstation is a bigger brand worldwide than Xbox, Ps3 has been winning worldwide since 2009 vs the 360 I don't recall it being cheaper. Unless they priced the Ps4 again in a ridiculous price range like they did with the Ps3 the Ps4 would have been ahead even against a cheaper X1. Because a cheaper X1 would also come with cuts in the hardware and the value.

-More powerful hardware

-Easier to develop for

-No PR dissaster with the whole "no used games"

-No obligatory camera

-It became the "cool" console of the gen

-PS Plus is great now, I'm not saying is best than Gold but it has become a great service in is own right

Well, I'll bite:

Out of those 8 retail games, how many of them were neither on X360/PS3 or PS4, I allow you to count TitanFall, so you can count games on PC as well.

Also, you mention Live titles, how many of those where cross-buy...oh wait

Well, its a good thing you enjoy giving Xbox money, I personally get quite annoyed when Playstation bothers me about downloading a game for free on Vita. I don't even have a Vita! They must be trying to make me buy one by giving me games for it! Those slimey bastards. 

Oh but look at me, I'm making assumptions again. I'm sure Xbox sent you an email on the free games you recieived for 360 and XB1 for subscribing to XBL, or probably a notification on that fresh new XBL app. Or better yet, I bet you stream those "high quality live titles" on you're recently aquired twitch app.

Isn't it great how Xbox One is so futuristic? I mean to think, now the console can stream gameplay, pretty soon the PS4 and PC will follow suit as it is a competiton.

Cool story, but those are really not game changers like you think.

The real thing is price....namely 360 having 2008 prices in NA and coasting on them to this very day. PS3 dropped $150 since 2009 and introduced their own "gimped" $200 console just to stay competitive. People like to overlook that.

MS could have very well dropped to stay the winner but god bless their hearts....they preferred profitability ;)

P.S - People like to complain about MS's lack of 1st party support in the last few years, but we all know multiplats do all the carrying most of the time anyway. XBLA was still a beast and I preferred Halo 4 to anything PS3 had in 2012 (Halo 4 literally outsold every PS3 exclusive combined in 2012, so regardless that point is moot).

having a console with an actual first party relevance

having a console with way more games coming not just from big 3rd parties, but from innovative studios

having a console where people constantly get a stream of free ip.. and AAA ip like outlast and resogun..

a console that can play the same games your console can, but better with DOUBLE THE FRAMERATE AND even DOUBLE THE RESOLUTION at times..

of course price is the only thing that has to do with anything....... of course

makes one wonder why the MORE COSTLY playstation 3 is over a million units ahead of the xbox 360.. which is a much cheaper option..
