Seems like people have a pretty good idea of where they wanna see the franchise go, and I agree with it all. If done correct, StarFox could still be relevant today.

I strongly disagree with that statement... the popularity of sh'mups peaked in the late 80s/early 90s in the arcades and home consoles... by the time 1993 rolled around it was all about fighting games and pseudo-3D polygon games. StarFox cashed in on the growing interest in pseudo-3D games that were either polygon based or featured "Mode 7" style graphics a la Pilotwings.

And what is so hard about rebooting Star Fox in this day and age? Just make the missions more lengthy, dynamic and diverse like the Rogue Squadron series did. Those games were wildly popular on the N64/GC and the StarFox franchise fits the template that Rogue Squadron set perfectly.

I don't even need to read any more of this thread because you nailed it in the twelfth post.

Anyone who has played The Wonderful 101 should see that Kamiya and his team could potentially work wonders with this franchise - at a blistering 60fps with the same kind of shiny aesthetics.

Star Fox to Platinum would be the equivalent of F-Zero to Amusement Vision, IMO. 



Who said they have to sell it for $60? Make it 2 hours long and put it on the eShop for $15.

Like I said in another thread an on rails shooter for 60 bucks well be a hard sell.

But there is an easy fix for that all nintendo has to do is add online multiplayer to the battle mode and problem solved. I keep staring at the star fox 64 I have for my 3ds and while the main game is still as much fun as playing it back all those years ago it really irks me that nintendo did not add online to battlemode its so much fun I thought it would have been a given.

For the wiiU all they need to do is beef up the battlemode a little more, make it something battlefield like, the different animals could have different specialties like engineering, medic and so on, and you can use the spaceships and land cruiser and so on in large mulitplayer maps. All this while keeping the on rails part for single player with a little on foot thrown in, win win for everyone.

Also they could just really give Platinum to develop it, I remember when playing vanquish around that time Kamiya expressed interest in developing star fox. I'm pretty confident that they would be able to do justice to the game with the style of developing games that they have, if you played vanquish you would understand it was short but a hell of a lot of fun.

But as I have started already I don't expect the wiiU to be getting a star fox, metroid or f-zero.

i'm going to keep this short. I am totally ok with starfox branching into other genres. Give me a Nintendo ead for 6 months for conceptualization and work will start on the highest selling highest rated star fox that has ever been made. Unfortunately, that will never happen.



This is the age old problem of the Fan Base VS. the Company. The fans can't be pleased unless they have this, this, and that. The company gives them this, this, and that and they don't like it.

What should the company do? Reinvent the wheel? Sorry, no, the fans won't like that. Try harder next time.



At some point you have to say "screw the fans, lets just make a good game". The starfox universe has so much potential story wise. It's a shame to watch it waste away in limbo. Although it might be worse to watch it rehashed into an on-rails shooter again. Let the past be the past and let's make games for the now and future.
