Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Kojima wants Snake in the new Smash Bros., but it’s not likely to happen

As much as I want snake to be playable - snake does not deserve to be a playable character considering his non-presence in Nintendo consoles. His spot is better suited for someone else more deserving like Dark Samus, Rayman and even Pac Man. If he does get a spot - I will be ecstatic

Following that rule, why were Roy in Melee or Lucas in Brawl?

..Because every Fire Emblem and Mother game are Nintendo exclusives?

Snake used to be on Nintendo platforms, so rejoice in playing with a character that actually got localized on the west.

Smash Bros. is a Nintendo game. Fire Emblem and Mother are Nintendo published franchises. 100% of the games are on Nintendo consoles. They've earned their spots in Smash Bros. Snake as appeared in close to a dozen games and only 2 have been on Nintendo consoles. Nintendo is clearly the lowest priority for Kojima, so Snake should be the lowest priority for Smash Bros.

Spoken like a true ignorant. No offense, but the roster is what brings in the audience not just the name alone. Smash Bros doesn't sell other games Nintendo games, nobody wants to play starfox because they've played the space animals, nobody wants to play earthbound just because they've played Lucas. It might introduce someone to the character and thus the series. But its more important to have memorable characters in the roster than characters from Nintendo's games. That's the main reason All-Stars can't really compete with it, Sony doesn't have memorable characters that cross generations like Nintendo does.

Look at the problem the Wii U is having right now, do you think Nintendo is in any position to be making demands? That's what they did back in the nes, snes, 64 and GC days and now look at em.

Snake being in Brawl was reason enough for some Metal Gear fans to get a Wii. Don't see why Nintendo wouldn't want that for the Wii U. These are some Microsoft Level decisions right hur.

im getting a sneaking suspicion that the roster is not going to be up to snuff. The only character that seemed excited so far is little Mac but thats just me.

I honestly don't care about little mac cause I'm an aerial player. Plus I'm more concerned with Rosalina. Cause my Melee Main is Peach and my Brawl main is Zelda. Project M is Peach/Zelda, and with the new smash I can make the legendary Peach Rosalina team.

How is it ignorant? Why should Nintendo promote a character that is nowhere to be found on their consoles? Developers that don't give two shits about Nintendo shouldn't have their characters in Smash Bros. Nintendo put Snake in Brawl and Kojima gave them a port of an 11 year old game on 3DS. No where near a fair trade.

He shouldn't, I agree 100%.  I felt like though he was kind of cool in Brawl he was also totally misplaced

Like I said, its not promotion. Its the other way around in fact. Having Snake in smash will draw in Metal Gear Fans. Nintendo barely even promoted W101, why do you think Kojima would want promotion from them? TBH I don't agree with them reducing the roster or even keeping the same number of characters, especailly when there is no story mode.

If he's serious then Kojima should port any one of the HD Metal Gear games to the Wii U.

In the meantime they should just add Simon Belmont to the new Smash Bros.

Unless we have some numbers showing how many MGS fans bought a Wii exclusively for Snake in Smash Bros., I don't really think that's a valid argument. Smash Bros. is for Nintendo characters and 3rd party characters close to Nintendo. If Kojima isn't going to give Nintendo at least half decent support, Snake doesn't belong in Smash Bros. There needs to be some kind of give and take. Snake belongs in Playstation All Stars 100 times more than he belongs in Smash Bros.

For the people who are talking about whats fair or not has anyone of you ever stopped to consider that maybe Kojima doesnt have as much say as we think? Maybe people higher up in Konami decided not to put MG games on Ninty home consoles, and the way that 3ds game went down im inclined to believe this.
