I have to disagree with the bolded. I have both a 3ds and a psvita and I find the 3ds hardware absolutely horrible. The 3d part works much better than I thought and it makes the screen look really good, but everything else is extremely uncomfortable for me. Sony hardware + Ninty software would be ideal. Then again, maybe I'm alone in this and most people find the 3ds comfortable to use. I still think it's because of the brand and the software that it does well.  

More or less my thought...

They seem to be saying....

"This product targeted at this customer base proves there is a market for this product.  We are targeting a different base."

That's like mass targeting bras to men because women prove there is a market for bras.

Maybe part of the reason they haven't discontinued it yet is the 3ds sales. they see that handheld gaming is not dead, just them not doing well, so they need to change their strategies. Hence, some family oriented games (like that pets/dogs game), a lot of jrpgs localizations and efforts to get support from indie developers. Are they taking the right steps? Obviously not. But still, there's nothing wrong with his statement as it is. 

Conversely, they saw that no one was doing well enough with 3d tvs, so they stopped pushing them to the market. For vita, there's a glimpse of hope. That's all.

I appreciate that Sony recognizes Nintendo's kingdom in handheld gaming, but I take offense to the fact that they insinuate that I'm immature because I own three 3DS systems and no Vitas. I am a married 28-yr-old father of two. I will game on what I want, and the Nintendo console appeals far more to me than yours does, Sony.

Sony can't catch a break with the haters no matter what they say people will still hate on them. Poor Sony can't even compliment the competition without being hate on.
