Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Rumor: Resident Evil 7 exclusive on Xbox One

I know everyone thinks this sounds impossible and stupid all at once. But what if Microsoft's plan is to pull a Titanfall? They release the Xbox One in Japan with Resident Evil as a pack-in. I think that would give the Xbox One an initial jump start in console sales that they've never seen.

Author of science fiction and other genres, I write under the pen name Desmond Shepherd. The second season of my series The Permanent Man premieres on November 11, 2014. Pre-order the season premiere The Walls Have Ears on Amazon today!

Good. Now the series can die. Sometimes I'm not even sure whether Microsoft just blind when it comes to quality or not.  Hopefully this rumor isnt true, but if so RE will die slowly this gen.

To real fans, it faltered at 5 and died at 6. MS knows brand names. I doubt this rumor is true, but even timed exclusivity will give a minor boost for X1 hardware. Still got millions of fans that will buy the game for the name.

MS paid Capcom last gen so they favor them. For all I care Microsoft can keep paying them until they sink. Its almost about to happen. I'm curious abou the exclusive Sony is making in tandem with Capcom before they go bankrupt this generation. I like fantasy games. Capcoms main franchise is dying though and they have milked it to all hell to the point where people are going to really become turned off this gen. They  might be going the way of THQ.

Because the last game was a flop and no one cares about the next one. They may pay for timed japan exclusivity, but unless Capcom is trying to complely kill of resident evil, there is no chance a main line game would only be on X1.

After the last game the remaining player base would probably happily leave the franchise than buy a new console just to see another sequel.

Sounds like a good idea on paper, but in the end, the Japanese won't care much about Resident Evil because the last one played like the ripoff of a bad shooter and consisted on cheap jump scares.

Will it sell Xbox Ones? Absolutely. But not that many and not for long.

But that's just me.

PS4 is doomed in Japan, so maybe it will go Wii U and PC

...Let the Sony Domination continue with the PS4...

Well REmake and Re0 are exclusives for Nintendo. And originally RE4/UC/DSC, so it could happen.
And, this would mean it will still be a shooter.

REmake 2 for Wii U, go Nintendo, do it.

i wouldn't be surprised. this gen MS shown they a lot of money and little business sense.

Some questions regarding your statement:

Seriously?

How did they become rich? By writing cheques?

Yes, indeed that's how they became rich. They were asked by IBM for an Operating System. And as they didn't have one and no time to make one, they wrote a $75,000 cheque to buy it to another company, Seattle Computer Products. That's history fact.

Rumor: New version of Dualshock 4 will only work on Xbox One
