I beat the game yesterday and just beat Darklurker right now. Also beat the rest of the optional bosses. I don't think I have anything more to do than PvP at this point.

So, now that you beat the game..is it truly a worthy successor to DS?

I wonder if Namco/From are now seriously considering a PS4 version..Tomb Raider came out recently with a nice graphical overhaul, The Last of Us for PS4 is coming, apparently so is GTA V, now all that´s left is DS2...what do you think about the chances?

I guess I'm almost finished. Dragon aerie and shrine were pretty short and easy, which unlocked 3 mini dungeons, and now it seems only the final boss fight is left. If they're going to release a HD version I would prefer a Dark souls complete edition on ps4 with the DLC. DS2 is a worthy sucessor but Dark souls edges it out in consistency and level design.

Did you defeat the dragon at the end of dragoin shrine? I did some co-op there and every time I got summoned they went for the dragon where the world master died before it was down to 90%. Crazy aoe fire attacks, a few times I was dead immediately upon entering the mist, not even a chance to press a button.

Btw hollow invasions are really annoying. When they're not close I can sign out to get rid of them but that means quitting the game to get co-op working again. Fighting them the best out come results in using up my heavy hitters I want to save for the boss. One other time I was at 10% health fighting of a bunch of enemies when stabbed in the back, and 2 other times both me and the invader ended up dead. Toxic and poison from the invader, while I use flame swathe. It's just grief play imo, my zone resets and I have to retrieve my souls, while the invader suffers no penalty at all for dying I imagine. (Never invaded anyone myself) Luckily it happens far less often then in Dark souls where running around not hollow would mean getting invaded within a minute.

It seems a lot of griefers moved into DS2, but a lot of them stayed on DS1, at least on the PC version. You can't get through the Undead Burg area, while Human, without being invaded constantly. Heck, I got invaded at SL 1 by a dude sporting Full Havel's, while I still had my starting Pyro gear.

People seem to get their kicks out of destroying other gamer's progression while they have no chance of fighting back. Never got grief-invaded on DS2, most of the invasions I suffered were on the Iron Keep area, but I managed to fend them off since my Lightning Drangelic Sword +5 was hitting like a ton of bricks back then.

^ Looks easy, managing the dumb AI as usual.

I was using some bonfire aesthetics in Aldia's keep, gather souls to find out what soul geyser does but leveling takes longer and longer. Too long to reach 64 int. At least it was fun battling the dragon there a couple more times. I didn't go to the ancient dragon yet, instead decided to go back to throne of want. It was indeed the end boss, too easy. I think I had to lazily move out of the way of the beam attack once while throwing lightning spears from a distance. The end boss in DS1 was much more exciting.

It was a great game, entertained me for over 80 hours, yet I don't feel compelled to begin a 2nd journey as I did with DS1.

Favorite zones in order: Lost Bastille, No man's wharf, Iron keep.

finally had more time to play, I was feeling rather confident so I went and joined the champions covenant, then the royal aegis douche one shotted me like 5 times, I might just be tripping but I think there is something wrong with the hit box of his big mace, I would swear that I timed my rolls perfectly, but sometimes when I touched his mace at the end of his swing animation and it still did full damage, I think this is one boss that I will block instead of dodge in the future.

I played Infamous SS for a bit after finishing DS2, soon got bored from walking to the next cut scene and went back to DS2. I still had 2 optional bosses to defeat and Soul vortex to try out. With co-op helping other people to defeat bosses, and bonfire ascetics it didn't take very long to get int up to 64. I also farmed more twinkling titanite at shrine of Amana to get staff of wisdom to +5, infused with magic it's just shy of 300 attack.

Hendrick was doable now, I still got hit once, but instead of healing and dying what usually happens, I finished him off. With Soul vortex the fight wasn't too long to get hit again.

The ancient dragon turned out to be fairly easy. Since I had not engaged him yet, I could prepare right next to him, get all fire resists on, start with Climax hex and spam with soul vortex. By the time he got up he was already down to 60%. He leaves enough time to heal and I had enough fire resist to withstand a hit, so bye bye dragon.

All finished now, still don't feel like ng+, since I already did a lot of zones at ng+ and beyond. I have Aldia's keep at lvl 5 already. Bonfire ascetics is a nice idea but kinda ruin the purpose of ng+.

I reached the open world part of Infamous SS now, no more constant cutscenes. My DS2 addiction has broken. I'll play a HD remake of the first one if they decide to do one. Otherwise bring on DS3.

I'm almost done with my first play through (finally!). King Vendrick looks depressing as fuck but is actually super easy, killed him on the first try without getting hit once, died on the final boss because I did not expect curses, kinda cheap if you ask me. Anyway I only have Darklurker and the final boss left to kill, will probably finish it this weekend.

Overall a good game, I especially like the inclusion of artificial difficulties such as the champions covenant and bonfire ascetics, I don't like the new soul memory system though, in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls level 100 -125 is considered to be the 'legit' range of builds, each character is unique because you cannot just max out every stat within these level limits, but if the match making in Dark Souls 2 are based on soul memories, then there really is no point in keeping your character within a certain level range, if you do you'll just end up facing opponents at much higher level, I understand From Soft doesn't want new players to get trolled by invaders with end game gears on low level characters, but it really kinda ruined pvp because now lots of people will have the exact same character with soft caps across all stats. oh well, I'm not a dedicated pvper so it doesn't matter that much to me, time will tell how the community adapts it.

Is there a link that explains the "soul memory system" , I have no idea what you're talking about. I never went to any kind of wiki just yet. planing of finishing the game first then complete everything in the second playthrough.

here is a link, the exact details are still being figured out.

it's really simple, soul memeory is the total amount of souls your character has collected, so when you try to play online you will be matched accroding to it instead of your actual level, for example, if your character has collected 1 millions souls, then you are very likely to get matched up with someone who has also collected similar amount of souls, if you try to keep your character at a low level then you will be disadvantaged in pvp since your opponent may used the whole 1 million souls to level up his character.

I'm only curious about its impact on pvp because in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls it is not unususal to see dedicated pvpers have ridiculous amount of unused souls (like 10 million +).

Ah that explains my experience with pvp. During my play through I went slow through the game, buying up everything from the vendors as I went along. Then got invaded by people that (as I later found out) have spells that require 64 int to cast and are found much much later in the game. Obviously they must have been much higher in level than I was at that point.
