+Original Storyline not seen in many jRPGs back then nor this day (also the main reason why it never released in the US :P) - deep storyline themes not seen in games
+Real life characters make appearances/mention in the game's storyline (another unique aspect not seen in many jRPGs)
+One of the first early action RPGs that paved way for future jRPG action games like Kingdom Hearts.
+Unique gameplay elements such as the menu system being a actual in game playing aspect rather than being a pure menu.
+Gameplay has elements similar to games like The Legend of Zelda where players will be item dependent in order to get to a certain sections of the game/dungeons (not a aspect that was common in action RPGs).
+Gameplay has elements to a platformer as well as "Jumping" is a major gameplay aspect in the game for both puzzles and for battles - another aspect not seen in jRPGs.
+Most free style gameplay seen in a action RPG until Kingdom Hearts came out
+Town building gameplay aspect is a interesting new feature at its time - rebuild/build up pre-existing towns unlocking more features and opportunities such as item shops, etc (not mandatory - its optional and a nice feature/affects almost all of the towns in the game - up to 3 upgrades each)
-Not much in replay value/no post game content
Comparison's sake to other games in the series.
