Well that whole, "we're TOTALLY shipping everything we can" song-and-dance from Sony turned out to be crap, LOL. I've been following the availability and rankings for both consoles since launch, and I've never seen it in stock for so many days in a row. Looks like their goal is to defeat Titanfall and the latest bundles through carpet bombing.

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony wins NPD. It'll be interesting seeing the hardware numbers through the 8th here, as it wasn't until last week that Sony started flooding retailers with product.

I don't see the reason why Sony needs to counter SW with more HW.  This would only make sense if the Titanfall bundle was selling out (ps4 alternative to unavailable xbox), but it's not. There are plenty of Titanfall bundles.

What WOULD make sense is making sure there are plenty of consoles to go around when YOUR exclusive comes out, ala Infamous.  That is where you want to make sure someone who wants that game can get a PS4.  That could be something they were reserving consoles for.

Another scenario I can see is that they sandbagged a lot more for the Japan launch, just in case demand there was as off the charts as it was here.

I just dont think sony is concerned with "winning" a particular month or week when a big exclusive comes out for the competitor.  You want to sell as much as you can as fast as you can, because you never know what will happen.  Sony was not sandbagging for Titanfall.  They may, however, have been reserving stock for Infamous and/or burning off excess inventory that was reserved for Japan.

Some of you need to take your fanboy goggles off and realize that Sony is trying to move consoles, make money, and run a business, not ensure they win every week in sales just so people on VGChartz have bragging rights!

what sony is doing is preventing people who want a PS4 but cant find one saying "screw it. titanfall looks good, I guess I will get an XB1 since I cant find a PS4"    I am willing to bet that many people who snatched one of those PS4s on Amazon might have bit the bullet and gotten the titanfall bundle without stock.

Yeah, that might be a fair assessment.  But I think it would be far more important to have stock when people want Second Son.  Seems like this would outweight it.  Either way, once the numbers come out we will know how much stock Sony has been holding back.

It's probably a combination of stock for second son, avoiding people buying x1 as an alternative, and Japan inventory burnoff.

For someone complaining about fanboys, you sure seem awfully oversensitive about how people view Sony's actions. :p

Seriously, though. What's the big deal? Sony's console has been destroying MS in sales and demand. Pushing more hardware in order to offset any potential shift in momentum from Titanfall is a brilliant strategy, since people were going to buy those units whenever they could anyway. What's wrong with that?

Not oversensitive, as I own all consoles of a generation.  I just want people to give me a good reason.  Bigjon had a good point, although I still think the effect is a combination of 3 things I list in my reply above this one.

OK. it's sold out again :(

Still curious how you people are checking how many units are left in stock.

Add the PS4 to your basket, change the number of units from 1 to 999, then click "proceed to checkout" and enter your credit card details.

You're welcome.

LMFAO XD

It probably means the stock isn't physically in Amazon's warehouse - just that the shipment is due in 1-2 days so they are selling it before it arrives.
