Super Mario Land 2 was such a huge improvement over this one it's not even funny.

I liked this game a lot! It has some serious flaws and it's one of the weirdest Mario games ever, but it was fun while it lasted!

I agree with the overall score and the complaints about the music, gameplay, graphics and length.
Did you really dock points for story and characters though?
I loved the game and it was possibly the scariest one of the whole serious. The enemy design really gave me the creeps.
To me SMB2 is the worst in the series, so I would rate SML better.
