It is so funny to see someone posting a "scientific geological model" and then watching Papua divided between Indonesia and Australia... Yeah, pretty "scientific". Also, if this was "scientific" Greenland would not seem to be like 1/3 of Africa.

Note "generally".

Just went with a general 6 contienent model cause i didn't want to mess around with google search too much because then you've got plate maps,

and then people want to know whhy the Middle East isn't a continent or why that little part of Russia isn't in america and you've got to talk about cratons, and continential cratons, and contiguious landmasses and all kinds of shit.and all kinds of things and its a pain to explain,.

Do you think Russia should, or has a right to, take Crimea from the Ukraine?

Crimea historycally is a part of Russia. Same as 70% of Ukraine, inclyding Kiev. Also it never was a separate 'ukraine' state until 1991. So why not.

That's not true. The first Ukrainian nation existed 1917. Without crimea naurally.

Well, it took them some 20 years more, but they are following footsteps of the predecessor pretty closely :D Finding preceding states of "Ukraine" is really depends on how desperate you want to be, if I'm not mistaken they track down their history until the Kievan Rus', no less. Bastards!

"Nation" cannot exist 2 years and then dissapear. If you'd investigate further, you'd see that from 1918 till 1920 on the territory of current Ukraine existed 16 different 'countries'.
So of course, its not so simple, but to call a Nation something which existed only 2 years during total annihilation of Russian empire - its a bit too much.

Technically nation could exist within various nation-states, or inside another nation-state, like Poles in Russian Empire (you won't deny they are nation). But truth be said, Ukraine is indeed a failed attempt to buildl a nation, I won't bring up the topic on who was or is trying to build a nation out of Ukraine, but what we see now is a yet another failed attempt in building an Ukrainian nation, and every damn time it ends with unmitigated nationalism.

The Kievan Rus is no predecessor for the Ukraine. It has no continual development into the modern Ukraine. The Kievan Rus on the other hand is the predecessor of modern Russia. So the roots of Russia are in Kiev? Actually the Kievian Rus started to have Nowgorod as capital, the southern part was later conquered.

I agree. A multiethnic country like the Ukraine is, can only exist if the rights of all groups are respected. If that's not the case, it is doomed to split up, usually with a lot bloodshed involved.
