It does. Although I'm not sure if either game has a clear technological advantage.

Not sure really. Trine 2 art style in do enjoy more though.

Trine 2 looks amazing, love the art style and visual direction.

Well, DKCTF looks more or less like DKCR when running on Dolphin, so, from technical stand point, I think Trine is clear winner.

As for art, it's matter of taste, though I would go with Trine there too.

Except that TF has higher resolution textures, fur shading, improved water effects, more layered and detailed backdrops.

Art Style =/= Graphics.

Fired up DKC last night and aside from the characters, it's not what I'd call a graphical powerhouse. Fun as can be but not something to show off they system.

No doubt trine looks better - DK is very disappointing on the visual department, but the gameplay is in a whole different level that trine 2 though

Agreed.

Trine 2 is about the closest thing Wii U has to a graphical showcase so far, while Tropical Freeze is quite modest technically.

Uhm, hence my more or less part, of course there are things that are improved, it's just not enough IMO.

BTW, that Dolphin sceenshot looks particulary bad, it doesn't seem to have Force Texture Filtering enabled in emulator. Watch this in 1080p and see what I mean:
