Tropical Freeze beats Trine 2 to the moon and back when it comes to gameplay, however.
Indie devs are really showing Nintendo that they arent the only masters of the 2D/platformer genre. Its crazy that Sony and Microsoft arent giving Nintendo a run for their money there, but rather the indies are doing the work for them.
The Trine 2 and DKC comparisons got me thinking...
What if Retro and Frozenbyte teamed up for a 2D Metroid?
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
curl-6 said: Trine 2 Wii U looks much better than Tropical Freeze; it has more detail, higher resolution textures, more complex lighting, shadowing, and effects. The only advantage DKC has from a technical perspective is 60fps versus Trine's 30fps. Frozenbyte put visuals as their top priority; Retro Studios did not. |
I don't like the lag of Trine though. It looks amazing when taking still pictures but actually running it's dissapointing to say the least :/ It looks choppy compared to DKCTF. To me the FPS is extremely important.
Trine 2 is way more vivid on Wii U than Tropical Freeze, also has very a different art style, and 30 FPS vs 60 FPS. It's harder to say on Wii U though since DK moves much faster and smoother so game play experience on which looks better varies, but I'd say Trine 2 looks best on PC at 60+ FPS at 4k res which beats out DK by far since I don't see platform restriction in OP.

Na Nintendo is still the true master, Trine 2's actual game play isn't as good as DK, graphics wise though, I'm pretty sure people can beat Nintendo on that pretty easily these days.
