Since when is the number of posts and the resulting rank an indicator for respect?

How else is Soriku going to get respect?

I guess it's okay... I'm only barely scraping by as a Member now, but I suppose that's better than hitting obsessive.

I never cared about post count but I find when boards give false incentives to post a lot more new posters just sign up and spam then people ask why are people signing up and spamming the boards when they keep giving them false incentives to spam.

To me respect is earned not by how many times you post but the quality of the posts .

I'd rather have a member 'voting' system where members can give each other points/votes for quality posts. That way users would have to earn that R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

(For an example, check out http://forums.slickdeals.net/faq.php?faq=sd_faq_item#faq_reputation_faq_item and their reputation system.)

Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.

Flawed, people aren't objective and even postive posters would get voted against by fanboys of opposing systems.

Voting systems are just popularity contests and often abused by members.

 Agreed.

And your rank doesn't really mean anything, some people with under 200 posts said a lot more things than people with 2000+ posts.
