PS4 has sold 370k by the 2nd of March, according to Sony. They tracked 309.000 on the launch week according to Famitsu (more according to MC), so that's about 61k this week or less.

For reference, that puts PS4 below Vita and WiiU numbers at the same point in time.

I still expect PS4 to outperform those two and it's gonna sell very well regardless of Japan, but this doesn't bode well for the Japanese console market. Is it time to worry?

I actually don't think PS4 will outperform the Vita in Japan. Wii U, probably.

Japanese console market is dead, the Japanese game business is now two segements -- dedicating gaming handhelds (3DS/Vita) and mobile cell phone/tablet gaming.

This could also be related to supply shortages. 2 weeks is simply too short time to draw long-term conclusions.

They went through similar issues for NA and EU. Give it a month or so at least.

I agree Sony can't produce enough Playstation 4. The demand from the stores are extremely high. This is going to take a while.

Sales are going to be ugly in a month or so. There's no games to drive sales anyway. 

People on this board are in a for a rude, rude awakening when they see what the Japanese game industry has really become.

I think it is still too early to predict doom and gloom, but I agree with you that the state of homeconsoles in Japan is ....precarious to say the least.

I'm guessing, because I never seen a Playstation 4 in a store here in the Netherlands. Assuming that the demand is extremely high or else they would have been stacked in the store.
