Funny thing is, my internet had been down for a couple of days when it occurred, so I came back to find I had been banned during a day where I couldn't have even logged in if I wanted to. Ah life.

If you report posts where people are describing others as 'fanboys' then I'll ban them- it's simple!

I got fussed at for using that word describing a fruity computer.  I though it only applied to consoles. 

Must be very careful when using the 'f' word, lol.

To clear up any confusion, here are the rules that VGChartz has for the topic of flaming:

Insults and flaming. Attacking other users for any reason is never acceptable.

• Do not insult someone's religion, race, sex, sexuality, nationality, political beliefs, or gaming preferences. Debate is encouraged, as is civil disagreement, but respect the beliefs and opinions of others.
• Similarly, do not insult without justification any group of people, be it a religious group, political group, or anything of that sort.
• Don’t use slurs (gay, f*ggot, n*gger, etc) as insults, even if you’re not using them maliciously.
• Do not personally insult other users. This includes calling them fanboys or trolls.
• Report it when another user insults you instead of insulting them back. If they report you and no one reported their post, guess which one of you gets banned? The moderators do not have time to read every post in a thread, so they will often miss things that are not reported.
• In general try to treat other users with respect and courtesy. We understand debates get heated, but don’t lose yourself in them. Remember you can’t continue the debate if you’re banned, so be respectful to your fellow forum members.

All the rules we enforce are available to all of our members. So it's always a positive to take a look and understand how the mod team works. Ignorance is not an excuse at this point, so remember that knowledge is power!

Saying the word fanboy isn't really a bad thing, like there are fanboys of different things, be it a console, football team or a type of food. Like Smeags linked from the rules the issue is using it as a negative point about someone here to berate their comment or thread ie "you have no right to talk about X you're just a fanboy of Y" then it becomes a ban-able offense because you're using it as an insulting term.
