Forums - Sales Discussion - I Believe Xbox One Needs A Mininum $150 Pricecut To Be Competitive Again (I Eat That Crow)

It will take years before it is that cheap. Also, Titanfall is going to sell a lot of systems. I know 4 diff people personally that are waiting for it to come out to get their XB1.

No. So what if the Xbox One is outsold by the PS4? It's not doing that badly and will continue to get third party support. The PC, PS4, and Xbox One are so similar that the effort required to put a game on all three platforms is worth it.

The problem is not Xbone be outsold by PS4 but the sales are close weekly to what Wii U at the same time last year... they need improve a lot because the common sense is that Wii U falied in terms of sales.

No a $100 price cut should be enough plus a big first party game like Gears or Halo will bring Xbox back to life.. the xbox one is fine it just needs time honestly

Same words for Wii U last year

I can be wrong but Titanfall won't move a lot more than 100k Xbones in first week and after it will drop to close 50k per week again.

There's nothing they can do anymore. Only option is to await this generation and try a new strategy for next gen, like they did with Xbox 360 versus Xbox 1.

Like Carl said, if they dropped price the perception would be that they are desperate, it would send out a signal that the Xbone has not much value.

There's simply nothing MS can do anymore. They made too many mistakes (marketing too much on TV integration, DRM and no used games PR fiasco, underpowered hardware, too high launch price, Kinect 2.0 still being immature technology) and it's impossible to repair all that and turn around the ship. This gen was lost before it even started. MS won't bother with console gaming much longer.

Well theres still hope for the Wii U isnt there it still hasnt had a $100 price cut and its big first party game hasn't relesed yet (Mario Kart or Smash Bros). The Xbox is in a diffrent postion though, it just got released and big games are on the way. The Xbox probably wont catch up to the PS4 in sales but it doesnt mean it also still cant do well.

I agree... I was just pointing the Wii U received the same words last year and it didn't improved at all.

Another point is which games will be released to Xbone this year? I know... I know... Titanfall... but after? I don't have track of the next releases on the machine... I know the multiplatform will be dominated by PS4 with more 60% of the sales but what is comming to Xbone in 2014?

Halo 2 Aniversary? And? We have to wait E3 yet but for now the year for Xbone is weak of releases if MS wants to change the situation.

True Xbox needs more Titanfall becuase after it theres basically nothing other then Kinect Sports Rival which I doubt will do anything for it and Halo 2 which is just a remake. They say Halo 5 is also supposed to come out this holiday but I highly doubt that sense weve seen almost no footage of the game. MS needs something big for the hoiday (bigger then Quatum Break and Sunset Overdrive) hopefully they can surprise us at E3.

I say 300 to 350$ is the realist price, at this price point (Assuming the PS4 is still 400$) it would make sense for the customers (mostly) given that:

 - There should be some sort of corelation between the performance of the gadget you get and the price you pay (I.E. games are compromised on this system, even exclusives don't run so well so far).

 - ALL extra features that are worth mentioning are behind a paywall, you don't really have them when you buy the system, anyone who doesn't have gold can't even browse the web or use your existing Skype/netflix/HBO accounts with their xbox one!

 - As far as I know most consoles were subsidised at launch (sold at a loss) because console makers expect to recoup that loss with game purchases over the lifetime of the machine (by example the PS4 loses money to Sony until you buy 1 game or get 1 year of PS+).

This is how I rationalize it, then I could see the reason behind all these "but people do not notice x, y or z as a difference, they don't care!" they would really not care about getting the lesser version because it would have saved them money and well, if they really don't care why not save themselves money in the process? (let's say you don't play that much...), but now this is, well if you don't care why would you get the lesser machine anyway?

TF looks like it will make the X1 a compelling buy.

They could always bundle Kinect Sports Rivals too. That's really the game the Kinect was made for.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
