I would hope so. Handhelds always have very poor attach rates in comparison to home consoles.

I read on IGN that the 3DS has the lowest attach rate of all Nintendo handhelds, while the Wii U has one of the highest of their home consoles. I don't have the link though.

Either you're talking launch aligned or their numbers are completely off.

And people wonder why 3rd parties are reluctant to develop for WIi U

I'm happy I'm not the only one who isn't surprised by this. I still have hope in many of you.

Poor Wii U. It tried in the beginning.

No, it was my memory that was way off :)

Ahh, okay. Still find their numbers weird though. I can't find their source anywhere, and some are way off from VGChartz numbers.

The Cube actually had some decent 3rd party parity for a while: Tony Hawk, real Madden games, Prince of Persia, Splinter Cell, Soul Calibur 2; then, of course, all of the Resident Evil support and games like Viewtiful Joe 1&2, Baten Kaitos, FFCC...

The Wii had almost no 3rd party parity, but there was still a huge opportunity for games like Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Just Dance.

Up until now, N64 was definitely the worst IMO, even though it did have the Turok games, Mischief Makers, an RE2 port, etc.

But the fact that WiiU is even worse is truly disheartening. I don't count W101 or Bayo2 because they're still Ninty published but most of the 3rd party games that have been on WiiU thus far are late ports of 7th gen games. Going forward it will have almost nothing that 3rd parties create and since people aren't buying the console to play the Just Dance type of games, that prospect is gone too.

*sigh*

The lower the installed base, the higher the attach rate, especially with young systems.  Because the Wii U hasn't sold many units, there should be very few broken or inactive consoles, which means a better attach percentage.  Low installed bases usually have a high ratio of dedicated fans, as well.  These guys are the ones who buy games at a high rate.  A system like the 3DS, on the other hand, is going to have a lot of casual users because the volume of units sold is so high.

People shouldn't be fooled by the Wii U having a nice attach rate.  It just means it's not selling well and it doesn't have many fans outside the hardcore Nintendo faithful.

Quick! Somebody blame the customers.

N64 had Rare. You cant replace rare

This isn't surprising at all, as the majority of current 1st party Wii U games are just replicating experiences from games that Nintendo have already released on the 3DS and Wii and you cant drive sales with such tactics.
Also about half of the 3rd party games Wii U got could be found much cheaper elsewhere.
