Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The (truth) about Nintendo (updated)

Many of us on VGChartz have grown up with gaming and probably grew up with Nintendo as well.  Nintendo, being one of the current three major console manufacturers, has a long history in gaming, and an even longer history in entertainment.  Having been founded in 1889 (source: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/corporate/outline/index.html next to 創業) Nintendo is the oldest of the three by far. (Sony: 1946  Microsoft: 1975  Sources: http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/CorporateInfo/ under to "Founded" http://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/789019/000119312511200680/d10k.htm Page 3, Part 1 Item 1 Business under General).

However, Nintendo did not establish into what it is now until 1983 with the release of the NES along with the ever popular title, Mario Bros.  The Nintendo we see now is the 1983's Nintendo, and not the 1889 Nintendo.  This still beats out Sony's introduction of the PS1 in 1994 and Microsoft's introduction of the XBox in 2001.

Now let's stop the history lesson and just cut to the chase and address the issue that this is a retort to Zod95's "article" going by the same name.

This is what Nintendo does with your money.  Obviously you can tell by these numbers that Nintendo doesn't put any money back into the system and keeps it all for themselves and are "$32B" rich.  Nintendo owes us big time.

1.2. How Nintendo has evolved along the time

Nintendo is clearly stuck in the past.  They have never implemented anything but "cartoonish" graphics and "balloon-based games"
I'm Izuno from the Software Planning & Development Department. As the producer at Nintendo, I proposed the product concept, as well as contents. I've been working with Kikuchi-san since we kicked off the Zero: Tsukihami no Kamen1 project for the Wii console.")

Yes, and not only that, but all these "Nintendo" games are too basic.  This is such a bad thing, why aren't Nintendo games much more complex?  Complexity is a good thing, right?  Being easy to play is not advanced.  It stunts the evolution of gaming!

Something else we can tell is that Nintendo NEVER spends "massive money" ever.  All they do is be as cheap as they can, screwing all of us customers over.

I mean, it's not like they spent any money on anything besides their electric bill and their extremely cheap to make games, right?  Not like they had any construction bills
(2011: U.S. Dollars in Thousands
Construction in progress: $18,009 Source: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2011/annual1103e.pdf page 21)

Clearly, what we can deduce from all this data is that Nintendo does not engage in any investments besides cheap, fast money and are clearly scared of competition that have evolved so much further than Nintendo.  It's all "objective."  Nintendo could never achieve what amazingly expensive, hard to make, and time consuming development of games like ModNation Racers or Spore!

This is the paramount of innovation!  Mario Kart could never touch this!  It's all about those realistic hills and using cars instead of silly go-carts.  No one actually races in those things.  Not a real racer if it doesn't use real cars, with real recorded car sounds and realistic looking hills and trees.

And yes, Spore is totally comparable to Pokemon.  Both are God-games right?

Looks legit to me... except Pokemon has never done anything innovative like Spore has ever done.  Pokemon has never taken this "bold step" and "evolved" into anything more than what it always have been.  We definitely still need link cables, and use 2D sprites, and have 151 pokemon.

"1.3. What Nintendo is willing to offer"

What we already have established is that Nintendo isn't willing to offer anything out of their own pockets.  Nintendo only does what it needs to take as much money from us as possible from paid DLC and microtransactions.  I'm sure we all know that Nintendo has been losing generation after generation ever since Playstation came out.  Even the Wii.  All of this is part of Nintendo's grand scheme to slow down the evolution of gaming.

Ever wonder why Nintendo games are so expensive?  It's because they love money.  Why don't they ever drop the prices of their games, ever?  They're deceiving us all with their cheaper consoles so we have to spend more money on their games.  Clearly, the Wii is more expensive than the PS3 and 360.  Games never have sales or drop in price for Wii so the investment for a Wii is more than the PS360.  Makes sense.

Clearly Nintendo IP's are never less expensive than their launch price and/or are "expensive"

Oh, I forgot to mention that we can say that PS360 games (without DLC) have "far more content" and are "far more evolved" than Wii games.  So I suppose Devil May Cry has more content and is more evolved than Xenoblade or Monster Hunter Tri?  Or Dynasty Warriors?  FFXIII?  inFAMOUS?  Tomb Raider?  All of these games, I suppose, have much more content than Xenoblade Monster Hunter.  Obviously since it's on the Wii, you only have enough content to last you a day.

Clearly only 5 to 7 games in, you're now paying more money for less with the Wii.  That must mean Nintendo's ripping us all off.

Did you know?  Nintendo's games are no better than flash games, and they are afraid of this.

This:

Obviously looks just like this:

Clearly, the 3DS screenshot looks a lot like the flash game above.  Or wait, maybe it looks worse.  I wouldn't know because it doesn't use photo-realism.

It's also common knowledge that Virtual Console games cost $10-20 a piece.  I mean, 1,000 Wii Points (for N64 VC games) is clearly $20 right?  Right?  NES VC games totally cost $10 each, right? It's not like there are any PSN games that are $10+.  No way, not even PS1 Final Fantasy games.  Nintendo would never give us free games.  Not like there's some kind of place where you can register for Nintendo and download some games for free on a regular basis or anything... (club.nintendo.com)

Nintendo is also very greedy for not being able to release an upgraded version of their old console for cheaper than the original.

1.4 "Nintendo's policy towards gamers"

Earlier we have discussed how Nintendo is trying to squeeze out as much money as they can out of gamers by pricing their games as high as possible so that Nintendo can fool everyone into thinking they even make half-decent games. Naturally, this line of thought takes us to Nintendo's attitude of exclusivity and satanism.  Nintendo hasn't ever released a single game on any other console (not even the PC).

And when I say not a single game, I mean Nintendo would never let their IP's be on anything but a Nintendo console, because the message is clear:  "Nintendo games will only ever be played on Nintendo consoles" - Eviwata Satiru (Current Dictator at Nintendo)

Another fact we all seem to overlook is that Nintendo wants to blackmail the market and create a monopoly of "just Nintendo."  This is clearly the logical conclusion of the presented information.

Now I will switch to a more serious tone to address a part in Zod's thread that isn't shrouded in misconceptions:  Nintendo's history.  Nintendo definitely has a bad looking history.  In which case, what's better at illustrating the point is not Zod's article, but Machinima's video series, "All Your History," on the topic:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0gNaUib4UU&list=ELi-uIdW1d5oE Here is the playlist, and there are 5 parts.  This better illustrates how Nintendo was in the past and what kinds of choices they made.

Anyway, it is pretty obvious that, since Nintendo is currently the only one to implement region-lock on their systems it means that Nintendo is trying to seize the market and take away as much money as they can from gamer's wallets.  It's pretty obvious that Nintendo sets the standard in pricing in all games so they can take as much money as they can from those who want to import, because importing is cheaper than buying local.  Also, Nintendo is clearly releasing their games much later in the West so they can charge full price for the game.  Has nothing to do with any work or time it takes localizing.

This is a clear sign that Nintendo is at war with us gamers, not having any of our interests in heart and only cares to bleed us dry.

edit: I wont be finishing this as there's no point anymore.  Too much time has passed and most people have forgotten by now.

The original thread is pretty lolz, and I feel like this is a parody of that thread

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

So, they're shrewd?

I figured the response thread would be come up eventually... I'm not really sure how necessary this is.

Good thread so far, but I noticed that under the heading "What Nintendo does with your dollar" the chart doesn't include international terrorism and child trafficking.

Consider yourself lucky.

Yeah it wasn't great, but I've read somewhere that cutscenes and voice acting are key elements to evolve games. Was it a step in the right direction?
