I'm picking the game up this weekend, as it looks like a great Donkey Kong platformer. But it doesn't look like it would sell systems to people who are still not convinced. And truthfully, if I hadn't got my Wii U at launch, I don't think I would buy one in today's Wii U climate, despite this DKC game looking awesome.

Would you like to see then that Nintendo closes down and its studios go to other publishers where they are allowed to make their great games? (on better hardware no less)

The front page is showing 200k, so I wouldn't call that a bomb, especially considering it'll probably have legs. Obviously it wont do Returns numbers, but that's obviously because the Wii U isn't doing Wii numbers. The same is going to be the case with every game, be it Mario, Zelda, Kirby, etc. This we all know! So the only real bad news here is that Tropical Freeze had like no impact on hardware sales, but even that was to be expected already after SM3DW + other games + Price cut + new bundles + advertising + holidays had zero long term effects. If all that did nothing, then there's no reason to believe anything will, atleast nothing from the usual console formula (release games, price cuts, remodels, etc.).

Pikmin Japanese FW was 100k iirc, and DK less than 40k.

People want new games, not the same ones they can play already on the Wii.

Maybe. People bought Returns because the last one was like 10 or so years ago.

Why would I like that?

I want them to be succesful and sell a lot of software and hardware.
