Still has a long way to go. 2.6 million to be exact... and that's if the Wii U and Xbox One didn't sell anything. The problem is the Xbox One and Wii U aren't. They're selling around 115k a week combined. If the PS4 ever wants to get that 50% market share it'll need to sell a lot more (to lazy to do the math right now).

Its at 58% for the year.
So its all a matter of time.

Lifetime..I'd say no.
BUT I do think it will remain in the lead throughout the entire generation. Even if MS eventually took back NA Europe would still carry them to victory xD

The Wii never did it because the PS360 were strong competition.

The WiiU is not going to be competition (some will get it as a side console) and the XB1 has to try to make up the weakness of the WiiU with only 1 strong market (2 if you count GB)

The ratio between the PS4 and the XBox One will be much closer in the future. Ultimately, the systems are incredibly similar, and effective marketing/exclusives will shift the balance.

The Wii U is already doing a bit better than it was, and that trend will continue. I'm not expecting any miracles from the Wii U, but its sales will be more than adequate to fill whatever gap is between the PS4 and XBox One.

PS4 will probably reach 45% market share until end of september(maybe more) with Destiny white bundle.

Then things get nasty.

Of course yes, it's obvious.

Has a lot of work to do to catch the 3DS numbers @ 83+ % market share but it's selling well
