Mario Kart 8 -- High expectations all around here. This is the most likely to drive up the baseline.

Bayonetta 2 -- Probably more of a niche, cult game. Likely will have a good weekly opening. Might be the title that makes some gamers go, "Oh what the hell, I'll get a Wii U so I can play this and also (fill in random Nintendo game here)". If it sells well enough, may give third party's confidence there is a market for mature games on the Nintendo platform. I don't think it'll considerably drive up HW though.

Hyrule Warriors -- If there's some compelling Zelda story in here and the gameplay is decent it may sell well -- temporary hardware bump.

Sonic Boom -- the AAA 3rd party exclusive Wii U needs most badly. This one is being made by former Naughty Dog and Infinity Ward folk. Sega's finally getting their act together with the Sonic brand with new toys and a TV show. Could be the catalyst that makes the WiiU a "must-buy" console for children and families and select few gamers.

Super Smash Bros. -- similar observations to MK8

As long as PS4 and Xb1 keep it up third parties will have the same userbase to appeal to as they did last gen.

They're already succeeding tho, Dead Rising a 3rd party exclusive over 1m on XB1, loads of third party games on PS4 and XB1 over 1m as well.

And if people want to celebrate, they can and will, don't force your opinions on people expecting them to feel bad about WiiU doing bad, most here don't care.

This, i find it funny how some Ninty fans are still trying to downplay the PS4, completly ignoring it had the biggest launch of any system. 

Fact, NINTY is the one responsible for the steep decline of the console market. Not Sony or MS as their consoles are actually doing good. 

There is no assumption some dont want to face that Ninty is the only that had a huge decline.

I just can't seem to wrap my head around your way of thinking at all.

a little of both. I didn't expect a total explosion for wii u and I expected ps4 basis to go down.

but WHY were you expecting this? thats the real question. What about the current situation lead you to believe you would be right? Was it just you being a Ninty and fan and wish fulfillment?

Wow, the Wii U couldn't even make it to March with a full year lead! How PATHETIC!! :D

The Wii U represents the greatest decline the industry has ever seen, I can't believe how much of a failure it is. Such a joke of a console.

Lol dude, you're gonna get moderated for that. We can't say anything bad about Nintendo or the Wii U unless it's cloaked in some non-offensive empirically-based language.

Interesting reading, but I'd disagree. When you compare new hardware sales to the sales of the predecessor in the same time frame (as opposed to adjusted in time of the generation) only one console has not faceplanted in sales right after launch; the PS4. The X1 is doing OK compared to the 360, but that's because the 360 is at the very bottom of the chart.

It's hardly a Nintendo trend when Microsoft and Sony both have a console and a handheld respectively following the same pattern. The only conclusion is that while developers were ready for new hardware, most consumers were not.

So yeah, hardware might be up compared to the same timeframe over last generation, but the way that's happening is really most telling. It says that the die-hard fanbases have really shown up in droves, but after that there's a drought before you can sell to a more discriminating consumer. It's probably not entirely fair to compare generation sales because the marketplace has done a lot of growing up over the last generation.
