Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Why MS had to do a price cut on Xbox One and give Titanfall for Free

I really think it's all related to the quarter report getting closer and MS have to show progress to investors. They have to many Xbox One and 360 on the shelves and retailers will not accept any shipments.
They need to sell all those and send new shipment out or their quarter report on the gaming division will be a disaster

Wow, a thread of a genius :D No offense but really, I think for most people it is quite clear why MS is currently doing something about the situation - we didn't need an explanation for the obvious

These articles are stupid.

1) its a sale in one country.
2) XBone has bundled a game since launch.

Titanfall bundle is effectively a 60$ price cut

No, sorry, terrible logic. Nothing against you personally but I hate this rational. It would only be effectively a $60 pricecut to everyone who was originally going to buy Titanfall as a download for full price with the console.

It's a nice bonus with the console, but it's definitely not the same as a $60 price cut. Not everyone wants Titanfall and even for the people who want it, not everyone wants to pay full price for it and not everyone who wants to pay full price for it, wants to pay full price for a digital copy.

This will only be the equivalent to a $60 saving for select people.

It's like someone claiming that the PS3 if effectively only £120 (down from £200) in the UK now because it is bundled with GT6 and TLOU which ignores the rational that many people who buy the console wont be interested in either/both games. It's not the same a pricecut.

It looks like it's going to be a good game :) (I love sci-fi games!)

2 is not true,

It bundled a game AT launch in Europe only, it has been without a game everywhere for a while now

The price cut is only in UK, but the free TitanFall is almost everywhere that matters. it's even in the US. So it's not a sale in just one country.

So you think MS can afford to have a quarter report with almost no shipped Xbox One and Xbox 360???
