It seems you don't have an eye for detail... I looked at footage of DMC4 and Bayonetta 2...
DMC4 in overall detail is considerably inferior to Bayonetta 2, only its art design is its saving grace and we could literally count each polygon on DMC4 enemies which isn't good news at all and I can't even imagine how much polygons each enemy has in Bayonetta 2. I would't be surprised if its between 15K and 20K versus DMC4 that has probably <5K for most enemies by looks of it when I see how blocky and simple looking enemies are.

Are you seriously using a cutscene/pre-rendered scene for comparison?
You can have two characters and focus all available resources to them, Yakuza series used a engine specifically for cutscenes to for better visual fidelity so no physics, AI or any sort of thing... All pre-determined, pre-rendered, pre-set... What ever. Its a common trick for cutscenes in every game nowadays.
