Congrats to Team Canada!

With that out of the way, message to Mr. Crosby: think it's about time to introduce the Pens to Lord Stanley's Cup, yet? :-/

Sorry.  "RE" introduce, I meant.  I don't know of ANY city that's content after they win a championship 5 years ago.  If you ask the Molson's, they're pissed that they haven't won 25 Cups, yet...

I'm bummed that US didn't even medal, but I guess I was rooting for Canada second. I'm a big Penguins fan so congrats to Crosby and Kunitz (and the rest of the Canadian team).

Allowing NHL level players in the Olympics is a joke. The whole 12 team thing is a farce to give the medals to 3 of 4 national teams. The NHL season gets disrupted and pros get injured(I hate the Isles but cmon......John Tavares ffs). Either go back to amateurs(no NHL/KHL players) or just drop it all together. Drop womens as well only 2 countries play. Sooooooooooooo excited for the season to start back up.

Wow, I'm not sure where to begin... First the Olympics is about the best athletes in the world competing against each other, and you want to include only amateurs? So what if the best players in the world are from the NHL, and so what if these players are canadians, americans, russians or swedish? The olympics are for the best of the world, therefore these guys have every rights to be here.

According to your logic, why are ATP players allowed in the olympics since it's always Federer,Nadal, Djoko or Murray that will certainly win? Hell, why not exclude all pro athlete and make it amateurs only. Alex Bilodeau and Charles Hamelin won pretty much all world championship in skiing and speed skating, I guess their inclusion in the onlympics is also a joke according to you, they should also be excluded in favor of amateurs. (I'm using these two since as a quebecer I know them very well, but I'm sure they are many other examples from other competitions and country)

Also, I'm sorry but Canada, USA, Sweden, Russia and Finland all have a shot at a medal, that's 5/12 teams right there. I'll go even as far as to say that Switzerland and Czechoslovakia, altho not as much of a powerhouse, also have a small chance at a medal. That's 7/12. As for the 5 other teams who has no chances in hell, if you asked the players if they'd rather see the competition canceled since they have no chance, I'm sure they would all be against it. They are happy to be there despite knowing that they won't win, and that is what matters the most.

And finaly, as for the women. These women work just as hard as the men but with no where near as much recognition or fame. They have no stanley cups and their is no doubt that it must be frustrating to be ignored just because they are women. Once every 4years this is their stanley cup, their only chance to shine after 4 years of hard work. And you want to take that away only because their sport is being dominated by two countries? I'm sure the swiss would all disagree with you. Again, I'm sure all women from all countries playing for teams with no chances at gold would all disagree. Also women hockey is getting more competitive faster than men hockey did at their debut long ago. Granted it will take a few more olympics before we see one or two teams giving Canada/USA a run for their money, but as the sport grows in popularity it will eventualy happen (and who knows, maybe quicker than we think). But one thing is for sure, taking the sport out of the olympics for this bs excuse will do nothing to help the sport grow.

no but seriously, Canada deserved the medal!

Don't worry we were saying FU Sweden back in 94' so were even now, lol.

Lol I guess so! We'll get you next time though ;) and this is apparently the first time you win on a big rink, right?

Yup, first time on international ice. It may have been a closer game if you guys still had Forsberg.

Yeah we've lost a lot of big names in recent years, but I think the future looks bright; many on team today are young (18-22), so you just watch us next olympics! ^^

Maybe, but next year it won't matter since the NHL players will probably be excluded. :P

Back on topic, as a montrealer, I'm so happy to see Price get two shoutout! The Price is right! Go Habs go!

well, hopefully the NHL players will be around next time as well =) if not, I think our youngsters showed that they could play ball... or puck I guess... or what's it called in english??

It's puck indeed :)

I also wish to see the NHL players around next time. Let's hope the best that they won't change that rule.

I just read that the medal bonus prize of Team Finland is going to the charity! The prize was 240 000€ and they will donate it to the Finnish Ice Hockey Players' Association.

Yeah, the Olympics without pros are just wrong! Even the participants in Ancient Greek were pros! Although, excluding the NHL players doesn't really mean that there would only be amateurs playing hockey; that's like saying that only Premier League has pro football players ^^

They donated the money? That's awesome :D That'll definetily help Finnish hockey in the future!
