You do know thats bullshit right?  I mean... just plain wrong.  Different divison unfortunately for you.

They only have one divsion that handles xbox and that's entertainment and devices but they also handle windows phone too so I wonder where android patent licensing would go ...

WRONG

The divisions were change BEFORE the last results.

Try and keep up if you are going to comment about financial topics.

E&D doesnt even exist any more.

Why do people take me on in this stuff?

What is the division called, now?  And what does it contain?  Have they moved gaming to its own division?  Serious questions, as I don't know.

Glad to see such passionate Playstation gamers lol. I am far from embarrassed and saying childish stuff like owned is why Sony is in trouble now. FYI i own both consoles so I'm not just an "X-Box fan". I am a 100% gamer who's life doesn't revolve around being the bigger asshole than the next fan. My favorite console was the Dreamcast and I know all too well what it's like to own a console with so much promise goes away.

At least they have started to shed the real money drains (PC and TV divisions). The challenge now is that if a massive loss or other problems occurr; they are a considerably smaller company in both assets and credit rating to soak losses and each division shed yields less and less product volume in goods and service to climb back up towards high revenue and profit.

Still tough times ahead, they're not clear of the woods yet, by far, but they are moving in the right direction and facing the challenge head-on at least. Hope they make it, always been a great fan of their products.

They aren't selling off TV, not yet anway, they are making it a separate company wholly owned by Sony, so if TV ever does start making profits then SOny still benefits financially. And if TV becomes very profitable and has a very sustainable business they might even bring it back into the fold some day. But more than likely they are segregating TV to sell as a going concern at some point.

It seems the only Xbox fan who's threads about Sony's financial prospects you should take seriously is kowenicki. Everyone else seems to completely misunderstand the words they are reading, because they start salivating over the prospect of Sony dying and PS ceasing to exist.

Sure, in terms of consumer electronics, PS is now the premier brand and the only one looking like it will make decent profits for the company for a while at least. But that's not all the company is. Selling off PC and spinning off TV should see Sony with pretty solid financial performance for the next financial year, and it's why despite the projected $1.1B loss Sony's share price has gone up and market advisers are recommending Sony as a buy.

It's quite amusing really, Sony today looks like a more sound and stable company than it has in the last 4 or 5 but we've been getting more ridiculous doom threads now than we've seen in the last few years.

Spot On!

The main reason Sony have been making a loss is the TV division and to a lesser extent the PC division. Most of the other divisions are sound and profitable. They should have spun off the TV division years ago. PC should have went sooner too! Some people just spout rubbish

That is sort of the big question that most gaming sites will ignore.  That article will never touch the N4G and neoGAFs of the gaming world.  While most people are having a laughing party on the XBox One's resolution and esRam issues for now those are really minor issues.  What happens one day you wake up and  hear more Sony asssets being sold of and they're moving towards liquidation?  I know this will be taken as troll bait but it's not.  I will say this to the entire Playstation Nation, buy shares in the company if you love it that much.  Right now they have a junk credit rating.  Games cost $60.  Pretend its a game and buy 3 shares.  If 5 million people from the Playstation Nation do this thats  $180 million dollars.

Think about it.

SAVE SONY

First, Sony is turning the tide not only in PlayStation but also in most of other divisions. Rating agencies quote them as junk because Sony is not american.

Second, 180M$ is nothing. They do much more than that as a profit or loss in every year.

Third, even if Sony dies, PlayStation won't. The brand is too strong to be wasted.

Also, ever looked at sony's music bussiness??

Artists under contract: Rihanna,Taylor Swift,Usher, Beyonce, Dylan, Alicia Keys, Bruno Mars, Springsteen, Justin Bieber, One Direction... I can go on and on

Only two of those write's their own music so, not much in the way of "artist."

I think Sony could do a Nintendo if they had to and just be a gaming company and be fine. They are the kings of home consoles, afterall.

do people even read the articles? Not the thread title.. Its about the Sony brands.. And yes the Sony brand called "Playstation" is the only thing that is left..

Walkman, Vaio, Bravia, Cyber-shot, Handycam, Aibo etc are all dead or dying.. xperia isn't as hot as a Galaxy or iPhone smartphone and will be beaten by cheaper chinese manufacters like their 4k TVs

Sony, besides it playstation, really doesn't have any other tech product to build their business on.. Which is worrying.. Perfectly fine article if you can read it without biased

Most internet gamers don't/wont accept Sony is right now in HUGE trouble. I think Playstation itself coul exist without Sony. As in acquired before liquidation or sold off. But I don't expect Playstation to be what it is today by 2020. Nintendo and Xbox are worth more than the playstation brand in business terms. Xbox is worth more than all of Sony at $23 billion for example. Sony in its entirity is worth $19.5 billion, but also has more than triple that in debt.

Your in MisterXmedia levels of making things up!

Well... its Playstation and buildings.... If the worst comes to worst, they will just keep on selling buildings to survive until one die they file for bankruptcy but I don't see that happening for a while (as in decades)... Yes they are losing money in virtually every other department (except a select few) but they have enough to keep them alive for a while

Yep all the departments! Another one who examines the finances of Sony for a living
