No. Honestly by the time Halo 5 is coming out that series will be nearly obsolete.

Xbone is in huge trouble and you will see a big change soon. Remember you read it here first.

you and your constant halo is dying nonsense.

you keep saying it and you keep being wrong.

you said for Halo 4 2012 sales:

No chance.

6 million is possible but that's the limit.

Reality : it did 7.5m

You said regarding lifetime sales

I've said numerous times that Halo is on a decline. I predicted a 91% Meta. I've said the competition from COD is too fierce.

And I've said that Halo 4 has no chance to sell over 10 million copies lifetime. I stand by that.

Reality : Will cross 10m soon and in less time than all previous Halo's

Lol i love seeing horrible predictions. Halo 4 is the fastest selling Halo of all time.

The X1 doesn't need saving on top of that it has a lot more interesting games besides Halo in the pipeline.

Many are still in the state of denial, i see.

Of course, unavailable ps4 weekly outselling 2,5 times perfectly available X1 for price below retail is not bad at all. :D

History, and last year is not even history yet, teaches nothing.
Or maybe it's just very short memory, most seems to have, and inability to analyze.

Actually, it's mostly fanboyism, otherwise X1 wouldn't even have $2,5m by now, MS fanbase is stronger than Nintendo.

So much wrong in this post.

I suggest you change your approach too if you want to stick around.

Nothing wrong, only facts, i'm not offending anybody, it's just the way things are.

I hate when people use the term save without defining what they mean by it. Does it mean get 1st place? Prevent it from getting discontinued? Sell a specific amount lifetime? Increase weekly sales to over 100k? Until u actually state what ur criteria is for being saved, nobody can actually give a legitimate answer.

With that said, the way I see Halo is similar to the big Nintendo franchises, it will sell incredibly well despite a small install base. The original Halo sold over 6 million and Halo 2 sold over 8 million on a console with an install base under 25 million, just like Mario Kart & Smash Bros were able to sell about 7 million each on an install base just over 20 million.

I feel like this gen is going back to 6th gen levels to an extent. Nintendo no longer has a huge casual craze and the reason why 360 was able to split the PS2 crowd in half was due to the price advantage, headstart, superior online and superior 3rd multiplats in the first half of the gen and had Kinect to push sales in the second half, it no longer has any of those advantages and Kinect just like Wii was a casual craze for a few years then people moved on.

PS4 will most likely dominate this generation while Wii U and One fight for a distant 2nd place. Halo will help sales but it wont be a game changer that pushes it close to PS4.

I disagree,  original xbox had a weird ass remote and was huge and just not really nice, thats why the ps2 was so sucessful. The 360 was great, it created a huge fanbase for xbox and a lot of love from its fans. Before xbox one was announced Most ps3 users were saying they were getting a xbox next gen (at least here in North america). The xbox one just had a really bad PR at first, and then a lot of damage was done for launch especially with a 100$ extra pricetag. If xbox wouldve done things like the 360, xbox wouldve got an even firmer grip on NA and UK.

edit: i mean by this that the xbone could still change, and wouldnt be that much of a "distant second"

So the main reason for Xbox selling so low compared to PS2 was the controller? Cuz thats the only reason u gave. Also how many of the 25m+ PS3 owners in America said that? Im not trying to sound rude but u totally just made that up.

PS3 has outsold 360 in Japan+Europe+Others by 20m and growing, without the 1-1.5 year headstart and significant price advantage the gap would be much larger in these regions. PS4 is $100 cheaper and in general a stronger brand in these regions, we can probably expect a 30-40m lead for PS4 in Japan+Europe+Others.

America is literally the only major region that kept the contest close, 360 has almost a 20m lead here which almost cancels out the PS3 lead in every other region. The thing u have to consider is that us Americans are not loyal to brands at all when it comes to consoles. 2nd gen was dominated by Atari, 3rd gen by Nintendo, 4th gen was a battle between Nintendo/Sega, 5th/6th gen Sony dominated and 7th gen Nintendo dominated the first half with Microsoft dominating the second half. Just because 360 did extremely well in America does not mean One will.

What caused 360 to do so well compared to PS3 in America? Headstart/price/multiplats/online/Kinect. For the first few years 360 had a $200 price advantage, the best versions of mulitplats with many of them releasing earlier, Xbox Live was much superior to PSN. If u look at the yearly sales, in 2009 PS3 came very close to 360 in this region. This just so happens to be the year PS3 finally hit $299 and was within the 360 price range and mulitplats/online were starting to catch up, this also happens to be the year 360 was down year over year. The following year Kinect was released giving 360 a huge boost for the next 2 years, without Kinect its likely sales would have continued to drop.

This gen neither has a headstart, PS4 Is cheaper with the best multiplats, there is no huge online advantage for either and Kinect no longer has that casual appeal. PS4 is currently selling much better in America and there is currently nothing that shows this will change. Xbox exclusives like wont do the trick. Halo is by far the biggest Xbox exclusive and the best selling title on 360 saw a 1 million increase over the best selling Halo on the original Xbox despite 360 having triple the install base. One can be competitive In this region but PS4 will likely edge It out.

All in all unless Microsoft comes up with a big game changer we are probably looking at a 30-50 million lead for PS4, which would One in a distant 2nd.

I dont know what youre on, the ps2 was the only reasonable choice back then, thats it. No one even considered xbox imo. The only reason I ever see people saying for owning a ps3 was the free online. Thats a big ass advantage and it is the reason ps3 is selling better now. And a load of people like multiplayer games in america, ppl who care about solo games the ps3 had are rare here. So yea a load of ps3 owners felt left out. Multiplayer exclusives are way bigger than sp games. I remember ps3 was just considered the wrong console and the only argument was free online. That is , if your a mp fan, but like i just said mp > sp by a pretty wide gap. Give both of them free online and the ps3 wouldve never caught up. Even with its great games in the end, the sooo praised tlou sold 4 mill. Halo doubles that everytime. Gears also surpasses it easily. Xbox 360 was just the better choice if you dont mind paying.

Doesn't stand a chance. Microsoft doesn't have an entry point into the market really. They should have exited this generation. Instead they went all in on Kinect... That was Microsofts ray of hope, but do any of you really think the Kinect has or will save the XBox division? Halo will increase sales, but it isn't saving anything. Microsoft is just trying to recoup their losses this generation before exiting next gen. It's pretty much a guarantee at this point.

I think we need to define what sort of state the XB1 needs to be in to be considered "saved" first.

By the strictest definition, saved from the danger of being scuttled, which would essentially mean MS is giving up on their home entertainment, living room hub aspirations and the Xbox brand, there are minimal odds of that happening, despite the grumblings of various MS board members.

So the XB1 is not in need of being saved from the danger of being abandoned, but if the situation were that dire, one game would not reverse its fortunes.

If we want to be looser and say that "saved" means the XB1 becomes more than an also ran entrant in the 8th gen console race, no; Halo 5 will not prevent that from happening if the XB1 is still in its current situation as far as $499 price and limited library of compelling titles to support this price goes.

If we want to be even looser and say that by "saved" we really mean give the XB1 the lead in overall 8th gen sales, the answer is no.

If we want to say that "saved" simply means selling very reasonably (within MS projections that have not been reduced to reflect current consumer demand) as would be expected of the successor of the XB360 (which doesn't guarantee success if we look at Wii U sales relative to Wii sales), it will take a combination of factors to pull the XB1 up.

But, if we look at the PS3, it can be done.

A gradual improvement of the library, catering to a wide range of tastes, plus functions that a broader audience wants to use, improved network services and functions and just as importantly, a slightly more general consumer friendly price (starting at $399), perhaps paired with a smaller, more attractive (and cheaper to manufacture) design will improve the commercial performance status of the XB1.

They just spent $400 million on an NFL deal, $100 million to secure the exclusive rights to Gears of War, $100 million to develop their controller, and are spending at least 1 billion on exclusive game development. Money is clearly not their concern. They are fully dedicated to Xbox and making it a success.

If anyone should have left the industry after last gen it should have been Sony. The PS3 nearly sunk their entire company and they will never fully recover from the losses they took.

After all this resolution talk and some what underwhelming weekly sales, many xbox fans I'd assume may feel a lil skeptical about their purchase. A gorgeous looking 1080p Halo 5 at 60fps would do wonders to reinvigorate the fanbase, and it give the XboxOne that Jesus resurrection it sorely needs, like how Halo:CE resurrected the Original Xbox.

The problem I see though, hypothetically of course, is what if the reason why Halo 5 was announced to be 60fps was because it wasn't going to be 1080p, but rather 900p or even 720p. The 60fps announcement would have been used to soften the blow.

If my crazy hypothetical turns out true, I don't know exactly what'll happen other than it being very dispointing to those xbox fans out there, Still being Halo would mean it'll sell fairly well and also move units, but the potential to sell/move units is greatly diminished, how diminished we'll only know once the games out, assuming this hypothetical comes true.

What saving...??? Xbox one is still the most profitable console MS did... It doesn't need saving what so ever... It'll be just fine don't worry...

About as fine as the Vita was for Sony for a year and a half. They certainly didnt lose money on it. They lost all support though.

Oh they definitly can get out of the hole if they are willing to throw money away. But theres a new administration in place that doesnt really seem to want to do that.

I'm no expert but if Mario isn't big enough to save the Wii U, I doubt Halo would be big enough to save the One!
