Forums - Sony Discussion - it´s Home really going to take of?...

At least for me... i'm really interested on exploring the enviroment and create my own space/apartment... but i don't know if the comunity will take of... i think it will get kind of boring after a while... but i see it as an improvement to a really basic online functionallity...

 what do you think?...

Yeap... this is Lavos...

In game XMB, integrated friend's list, in game voice chat through XMB, a clock...., and an achievement/trophy system will be enough to please people as long as it's free. I never thought of Home as a system seller and i don't think anyone will, but it is a nice bonus to have and a neat way to socialize online. Anyways, to answer your question... It may not "take off" until the PS3 install base is higher. More people able to use Home = better Home.

I can see Home being very popular for a couple months with lounges being full and a bunch of socializing (house parties) but after a while I can see the lounges being empty cuz everyone will be 'teleporting' everywhere. I do think home will be very good for Sony though.

I'm actually of the opinion that Home will be a bit of a system seller. Certainly not a high caliber one, but enough to get some people a bit more interested in the console. Plus, if they give it for free and build it up to nearly second-life level they will have a serious chance at gaining sales from it, which really isn't unreasonable with microtransactions being able to support it. People play those sorts of games and enjoy them.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

It's kinda like achievements. Nice for people who already have PS3's. That's about it.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Yes - massively as the years go on.

well, I wouldn't mind having a nice trophy of game I've finished, but I don't think Home is going to be the next BIG THING in gaming.

but then again, I never understood how people could spend hours in Second-Life.

I've always thought it was a neat feature, but I wouldn't buy a PS3 solely for Home. I'm completely content with the very simple achievement system for the 360. Home is a a definite plus though.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Bet: If Kingdom Hearts 3 becomes a multiplaform title/is not Wii exclusive then I will be banished from this land for 1 week and sing my praises to those who have proved themselves to be more intelligent than I.http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/RDBRaptor/rdbraptor_sig16.jpg%5B/IMG%5D">

I think it will generate positive buzz since it has a certain "trendiness" and "hipness" to it, much like the Wii has going for it. You have to remember how many dumbasses out there love crap like The Sims and Second Life.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I like the idea of man y of the features it has, one of the main one's being the community thing. To be able to meet like minded folk outside of the games yet still on the PS3. Also with a possible 4 million users (or whatever PSN is used by), even charging £1 would probably help them cover development costs. Although, maybe if it costs, then alot of people won't bother.

Hmm, pie.
