Forums - Gaming Discussion - Gamespot: New $149 Nvidia 750Ti plays Titanfall better than XOne

Saw on reddit.

Nvidia has just taken the wraps off the $149 (£115) GTX 750 Ti and $119 (£90) GTX 750 graphics cards based on its new Maxwell architecture. Both cards are available to purchase now.

The company is claiming Maxwell has twice the performance per watt of Kepler, and--in the case of the GTX 750 Ti--performance on par with a GTX 480, but with a power consumption of just 60 watts.

All models of the GTX 750 Ti and GTX 750 will feature two DVI outputs and HDMI, with some third-party manufacturers including Displayport too. Neither card requires a 6-pin power connector.

Core features of the GTX 750 Ti include 640 CUDA cores, a 1020 Mhz base clock, 2GB of 128-bit GDDR5 memory, 2048KB of L2 cache, and a 5.4Gbps memory speed. The GTX 750 features the same base clock, but only 512 CUDA cores, 1GB of 128-bit GDDR5 memory, and a 5.0 Gbps memory speed.

While the GTX 750 Ti is a midrange GPU, early benchmarks have shown excellent performance across a range of games. InGameSpot's own testing the card ran the likes of Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infiniteat over 60fps on high settings. It also ran the beta of the new mech-based shooter Titanfall at 58fps at 1080p with 2XAA on, a feat not even accomplished by the Xbox One.

I really get the feeling Steamboxes will be running circles around all consoles in as little as a year.

Thoughts, guys?

I read a comment on reddit which I though was a good picture.

PS4: 7850 box for $399 = Holds it's own well. (Argument for up to 7870)

XOne: 7770 box for $499 = Not too good. (Argument for up to 7790)

This card allows people who buy prebuilt PC's, or those with budgets, to game at medium to high settings @1080p and up to 60fps without requiring any drastic changes or other upgrades for just $149. Factoring other costs would give a decent PC for $400 ish.

Wow, Titanfall was clearly not optimised for the X1 hardware though. damn you respawn.

I think it just goes to show how weak the consoles really are compared to previous generations vs PCs... When the ps3 and 360 launched, they were equivalent much higher end gaming PCs vs ps4/x1 which are basically budget gaming PCs... I know that eventually, people will find ways to inch out more graphical power but man, PCs are just gonna rip the consoles apart in terms of graphics and price/performance (maybe within a year or two)

I mean come on guys, TitanFall is running on Source Engine 2... Such an old engine and the x1 isn't even equalivent to PC graphics... Like wtf, idk if its respawn's fault or just MS choosing the wrong hardware

I want to see that graphics card play Halo 5 and Quantum Break. I guess it can't unlike X1.

If Steambox CO. markets it well. And Apple's up the UI for the masses.

I doubt anyone that doesn't game specifically on Steam has heard of it yet though outside of hardcore gamers, and that's not enough. They need more marketing because they're doing about as good as the Wii U with marketing it atm.

Yep in comparison to PC's at the same time as launch this has been one of the smallest jumps in power of any gen. I really hope were only looking at a 4-5 year console cycle this time.

I want to see the X1 play Banished and Age of Wonders III but I guess it can't unlike that card....

There is a slim chance that Quantum Break will end up on PC anyway.

What are those? Games or apps?

X1 don't need that. And keep waiting on that QB port for PC.
