I'm sorry, but this hyperbole bullshit gets old. DKC has never been HUGE in Japan, even back on the SNES, so gauging the game's success, or it's affect on sales, in JAPAN, is incredibly pointless.

The game is hard though. Stay away if you can't handle dying.

Donkey Kong Country sold 3 million in Japan, thats pretty huge.

The previous entry sold a million units in Japan. So yes it should have done a lot better. 

I agree that it should have done better, but the Wii had a better install base at that time, right?

Still, DK is not the type of game that would make people buy a WiiU just to play it.
