Forums - Gaming Discussion - Some of your favorite games from Generation 7 that DID NOT get critical acclaim...

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is most likely my favorite FPS ever, but nobody seems to remember the game exists.
Mark of the Ninja is OH SO GOOD, and it got over 90 on Metacritic but... I don't know, it seems fairly ignored.

And I'm tempted to say FFXIII, but that's a weird case. It got 80+ on Metacritic but despite that, every single critic started to bash on the game, apparently after they noticed that the internet was bashing it. I mean, wtf?

Just on a sidenote, I played Folklore. It has the distinction of having the best use for the Sixaxis, but... the game is extremely repetitive. You have two characters, but their journeys are (pretty much) exactly the same. Story is promising but confusing too. To this day, I regret buying Folklore instead of Eternal Sonata at the time. But I'd like to see a sequel, with its flaws fixed. It has the potential to be an AMAZING game - and it is, at times.

Lost Odyssey

Well, I know that most people who played it understood it for the gem it was. But, I feel it was largely ignored by the masses because it was a platform exclusive. That having been said, I think Stalker Shadows of Chernobyl and Stalker Call of Pripyat were easily two of my favorite games last gen (and two of the best FPS' all-time, in my opinion), that really got very little press.

It's too bad too, GSC folded trying to cram their X-ray engine into the PS3/360, had they waited a little longer they could've released it all, without any sacrifices having to be made, onto this gen of platforms.

We all talk about the Big games from Generation 7(Gears of War, God Of War, Uncharted, Halo, SMG1&2, RDR, TLOU, SSB etc) but for me there were quite a few games that got little to no credit that I thought were fairly good and went under the radar. So I figured why not start a thread to give those games credit and maybe even let some of you in on ones that you might not have played. So hereit goes...now I only had a 360 and PS3 so my games will only come from those two systems.

Folklore(PS3) - A very early PS3 game that was very nice. I never hear nayone talk about this game but I enjoyed it VERY much. Still one of my favorite PS3 games but it gets little credit. It is kind of like pokemon/monster huner/FF lol. A very fun game worth a try!

Eternal Sonata(PS3/360) - I first bought played this game on 360 but when I no longer had my 360 I found it for the PS3. A real-time RPG with a pretty interesting story and some interesting characters as well. I loved the art style and the game-play. It gets pretty deep the further into the game you go. And if you are a RPG lover like myself then this game is worth a try.

Enchanted Arms(PS3/360) - Yep yet another RPG(yeah I love RPG games lol). I only played this game on 360 and it was one of the earliest 360 games released. While not the most polished game it was indeed a gem for the start of a generation and was a wonder for an RPG lover. The battle system was very nice and I was sad that it never got a follow up or a game that continued witht he battle system because it was nice. It is very cheap online now and worth a try!

Ninja Blade(360) - Over shadowed by games like God of War, Ninja Gaiden heck even Dark siders. While not as polished as the fore mentioned games. This was one of my favorite 360 games. it was something different that stood out from the rest of the hack and slash games. Not sure how to explain it but this was just a game that I enjoyed and still do even to this day.

Kingdoms of Amalur(PS3/360) - This was an RPG game that I never payed much attention to but when I got my hands on it I fell in love with it. Won't go into a long spill about this one but it is worth checking out!

Lost Odyssey(360) - This was THE RPG tow on on 360 in my opinion. And if you ask me is STILL the best RPG on the 360. Loved the combat and story and this is a game to not miss out on if you have a 360.

There are some other games that I could go on about but I want to hear about some other games that any of you may have played that you felt were VERY good but didn't get the praise they deserved.

finally, folklore

i mentioned it 2 or 3 times in posts. Great game, nice graphics. Very underrated.

Lost odyssey,yes!

1) Castelvania: Lord of Shadow; one of the best games to come out the 7th generation, it still pisses me off at the people that call it a "God of War clone" or others that say "Castlevania should stick to it's 2D format." LoS had a very good story with probably one of the best endings in gaming history(with a PHENOMENAL soundtrack to boot) it my favorite castlevania game and I'm eargly awaiting Casltevania: LoS 2

2) Crimson Gem Saga- one of the best RPG's to have come out on the PSP(maybe this generation) the game has completely flew under many people radar because of it being on the PSP system but it was a very solid RPG that and ending that awaits me for the sequel we'll never have...DAMMIT ATLUS!!!

3) Folklore: my first PS3 game so I always have a soft spot for it but dman that game was nice, story was very interesting, and it looked pretty good visually, at the time many people were showing off Heveanly Sword to prove its graphical prowess but I think folklore did a better job.

4) Spec ops: The Line: picked this up thank to PS+ as I always wanted to play this but didn't have the money when it came out but DAMN! one of the best(and toughest) shooters I ever played! with one of the most "WTF" endings I've ever seen

5) Radiant Historia: Has entered my realm of one of the best RPG's ever made" absolutely brilliant story along with a good mixed od tactical and turn-based combat...nothing more to say than BUY THIS GAME NOW!!!

Sonic Generations.  That game is somehow rated even lower than Colors on metacritic despite being better in most aspects. There are many optional paths to take, there are many speedy sections that are fun, bosses are a bit better than in Colors, the music is great and the game is simply gorgeous ( specially the PC version!)

Yeah my freind says he LOVED Sonic Generations and didn't understand the hate that it got. I might have to get his Wii adn check that game out!
