Forums - Gaming Discussion - Any thoughts on the net code and dedicated servers for Titanfall

I have had no lag issues and no hit detection issues. I have also been pleasantly surprised at the kill cams, they are accurate as hell when I don't rage out of them cuz I died and it was BS.

Ive still had games with players lagging, there is no magic fix to see here, people with bad connections will still have bad lag.

They also want to stop shouting about how all the AI is done server side, cos they AI is moronic.

But the game is still really fun!

I have a ping of 11 (US EST) and while some players are lagging, at least the connection to the server is always good. I actually really like this and see a difference between Titanfall and COD.

AI being done on the server side saves up CPU and require less bandwith, so it is still good :) (even if they are really dumb, but this has nothing to do with dedicated servers or even the bandwith)

But its dedicated servers so AI was always going to be done on the server, this is no differnt to how any games in the past work, the HOST always does the AI and if that host is a dedicated server then its a server. Its nothing new or special and should not be shouted about especially when its so dumb.

I have no clue what you are arguing about?

This thread is about "dedicated" servers and the lag/latency or even the net code...

AI being processed on the server IS improving that because it will not be affected by the host connection and it will free up some CPU on all client machine (as none will be used to process it); nothing is "bad" about that and even if you believe that it is very marginal, I'm not sure what is your point about not talked about while talking about no host need/lag/latency.

Now, if you want to just complain/rent about Titanfall in general, then yes go ahead but this is not the right thread and AI being dumb has nothing to do with it.

Well i apoligise if ive gone off topic i didnt mean too, but again you have failed to understand the point im making that the AI being done on the server is nothing new, its how all network games have always worked. Its not freeing up CPU on a client machine because it was never even a cosideration for a client to do this processing its always the job of the host, the host is just now a dedicated server, not a player.

But if you think this is great welcome to the world of dedicated server games, theyve been around for a while now, thankfully the COD crowd that are moving to the spiritual successor can start to enjoy it too :)

I think Titanfall is great so im not going to rant about the game, the AI beinf moronic really does not affect the fun of the game at all for me. If they fix it i dont think it will change as there clearly only there to be free kills not to provide a challenge.

The advatage of the cloud as others have put it, is hopefully it can spin up new servers around the world at a moments notice as demand increases in the locations they are needed.

Are you real? Stop making things up...

Where did I say that having the UI processing on the server is "new"? I just said that it is better than having them on one of the the player's machine (like the majority of FPS on console); nothing in that implies that it is new and you do not need to explain anything about how dedicated servers work... You are trying way to hard...

i am in NZ and my ping is 183ms when excessing the West US server. Its still pretty smooth. can't detect any lag which is a good thing
