What I got out of this, is that Forbes doesn't fact check really anything anymore and really shouldn't be taken seriously. So a hopless read of Anecdotal evidence and guess work, like what we have here.

What mistakes did you notice? You seem to disagree with the article but have yet to explain why?

Xbox 360 made money, a lot of money.

I love how the title is worded, like Microsoft should just give Xbox to Nintendo as a Christmas present.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Here you guys have this multi-billion dollar investment. We just, Mmmmmmm don't want it anymore. This article is total sh-t. Sales in the first 3 months mean that every, if not most business should give up and give it away. not only that but they are both profiting.

The main reason Microsoft is even in the game business is they were worried the Playstation represented some kind of threat to the Windows OS and Sony would use a "Sony OS" to displace Windows ... this never has come to pass and Sony in the grand scheme of thing is no threat to MS at all.

While they were busy chasing after Sony, Apple and Google rose to be actual threats and today you now have hundreds of millions of people everyday using non-Windows OS during their day-to-day lives (iOS and Android).

THAT was the threat, MS was worried about the wrong company all along.

Well he's right. The console business isn't a big money maker. Perhaps if the 360 or X1 sold like the Wii or PS4 then investors wouldn't hate on the Xbox brand so much, but MS just hasn't made a console that makes huge amounts of money. Even if the X1 was selling like the PS4, investors still wouldn't be happy, cause profits would still be small, and tiny compared to MS's overall profits.

Agreed. Last I checked Xbox was worth like 23 billion.  Even if MS wanted to unload Xbox, Nintendo couldn't afford it.

Just curious where you got that 23 billion dollar number as MS purchased Skype + Nokia for far less than that combined.

The 360 did make money, but not enough to make up for how much in the red they are. The Xbox portion of Microsoft has not made them a dime in over thirteen years. That's best case by the way. The most reliable information we have suggests that the numbers have been shown in such a way to cover billions in losses that we never knew about.

The Xbox division has been a financial losser for Microsoft from the moment it launched. With the current state of the Xbox One and the mounting pressure to "focus", it's not looking like that will change anytime soon.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
