Forums - Gaming Discussion - GDC Poll: 4.42% of devs plan to launch next game on Wii U. PC Development Insane.

3ds

O.O

Quantity versus quality.

I fully expect there to be 100 phone games for every console game, but as long as developers I care about stick with consoles and handhelds I will be content. Not a single phone game I want on my PS4 or 3DS.

Says absolutely nothing. What I want to know is the percentage of games that people actually care for. Probably in the single digits for PC and mobile.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

3DS has a lower number than everything but PSP,DS and Wii, this list is shit.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

As far as the PC goes, this is nothing new at all. Since the rise of Steam, it's pretty much always had a lot more games than the consoles. It's only the most successful that usually make the jump.

Western devs at GDC.

3DS-FC: 4511-1768-7903 (Mii-Name: Mnementh), Nintendo-Network-ID: Mnementh, Switch: SW-7706-3819-9381 (Mnementh)

my greatest games: 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

10 years greatest game event!

bets: [peak year] [+], [1], [2], [3], [4]

99 percent of those pc games are indies, most you can hardly even call a game.

Those results are pretty skewed. Companies with hundreds of developers sure didn't sent all of them to gdc, big studios and one man garage coders counting as the same will create those results. It's like polling how many video content creators are publishing for Movie theater/Blu-ray/DVD, TV, Netflix or YouTube.

It would be interesting if they had split it out by intended launch price: Freemium, sub $15, $15-39, $40 and up.

Nonetheless if you like experimental new games, and don't mind paying for alphas, pc is the place to be.

Shio! Where the hell have you been!!! Great to have you back, PC gaming is having a major resurgence!

Eh, I think you'd find PC always had the most developers working on it.

I know, but PC gaming has grown over the past five years or so, both in support and revenue! I believe this is partly due to high development costs on PS360 and partly due to saturation to some extent due to the generation being unusually long.

I'd also consider the effects of steam sort of gathering a lot of indie stuff in one place/having a legitamite storefront for games that would otherwise just be selling them from their webpage.

No doubt, I don't think people fully appreciate the extent of the good Valve Corp. have done for gaming and the industry in general. Some of my most memorable titles in the last 6-7 years have been Indie titles, I feel sorry for those who simply dismiss this whole market segment as useless and lacking in quality.

The Greenlight system is coming into its own now, and it's certainly head and shoulders above the unsocial weighting systems on Andriod/iOS stores and presents an array of software with vastly superior qualities than most fare on those platforms.
I am optimistic about PC gaming today, it has improved again after the early 7th gen slump when everything was dumbed down and little else was offered for some time.
