Forums - Gaming Discussion - GDC Poll: 4.42% of devs plan to launch next game on Wii U. PC Development Insane.

Just four percent of developers surveyed in a recent Game Developers Conference poll are currently planning to release their next game on the Wii U, while 20 percent are planning for a PS4 release and 17 percent for the Xbox One.

For the second straight year, organizers of the Game Developers Conference released their "state of the industry report." The report polls 2,600 North American game industry professions, all current or past GDC attendees, to create a "picture of the game business as it stands right as we enter into a new GDC."

The survey found that developers are flocking to smartphones, tablets and computers. More than half of those polled plan to release their next game for smartphones, tablets, PC or Mac.

Keep in mind that those 52.04% do not include web-browser social games. If you include those then that would put PC development at 72.10%.

Holy shit shio is back!!! WTF thought you had left this site for good! Great to have you back!

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

PC always had more games beeing developed for it than any other system, you get throngs of games on steam every month. Dont mean theyre all AAA titles tough.

Wii U doomed as always.  Happy to see PC gaming get so much support. At least devs are choosing the best option they have!

Correct your OP. Less than 1% on the Wii, not Wii U.

Sad to see the developer interest in WiiU lower than last-gen. Depending on the engine, it takes fairly minimal effort to port a game to WiiU. Maybe that's something Nintendo should promote more.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

The glorious PC gaming master race returns. Welcome back shio.

OT

I would assume that the vast majority of these developers were on the Indie scene, which would be explained by the PS Vita holding more votes than 3DS and Wii U combined and smartphones holding more of the vote than every home console combined.

That said though, the PC gaming scene just gets stronger as the day goes on. So many great games coming for the platform.
