Lame. Why not wait and announce a nice round number after the Japan launch?

Because two positive news releases are better than one?

By that logic they should release one every week. With a finger pointing gif and an X1 logo next to it.

It will be interesting to see what kind of numbers the PS4 pulls for the Feb 22nd Japanese launch.

I'm guessing the reason why the PS4 hasn't been selling more units, yet is generally unavailable anywhere with regularity is because of supply held for the Japan launch.

After a successful lauch in US and Europe, I am also waiting for the lauch sale number in Japan. :v

Wii U sales:

1 month: December 31st, 2012: 3.06 million
4 months: March 31st, 2013: 3.45 million
7 months: June 30th, 2013: 3.61 million
10 months: September 30th, 2013: 3.91 million
13 months: December 30th, 2013: 5.86 million

PS4 sales:

1 day: November 16th, 2013: 1 million
2 weeks: December 1st, 2013: 2.1 million
1 month: December 28th, 2013: 4.2 million
3 months: February 8th, 2014: 5.3 million

The sales trajectory is ridiculous compared to Wii U.

good good good.
Almost reached the sales of the wii u.
Almost.......

it has higher impact to wait for large differences, here the logic is being able to show a large difference in sold through figures over a small time frame, as a week from now they can release another announcement stating anything from 5.7-6m sold through, possibly even more if they have been stocking up in Japan, what people then see is "wow it went from 5.3m to 6m in a week" rather than "oh they had a big launch", people generally focus on raw numbers rather than the reason behind them.

He said two is better than one. Not that more is always better. You can over do it.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Good thing I have my PS4! I can feel like a winner this gen and not have people say I am using last place logic. :)

Last place logic?

During the last generation when PS3 was way behind and Sony fans defended the console people from the other two fanbases would say Sony fans were using "last place logic". It wasn't a widely used term from what I remember but it was said a few times and in a highly mocking manner.

Just poking a little fun of some stuff I read all those years ago. Man it's been so long I'm starting to feel old. I was like 17 years old then ;;.

That's some solid logic right there. I tip my hat to you.

vgchartz spot on.

We are actually undertracked. The site has it at 5.187 million and Sony says sold through. Still we are pretty close. I'm just being anal.

Within 3% is extremely awesome.
