I remember playing this game when it first came out when I was younger, and enjoying it despite not really liking or playing the previous Yoshi platformers too much (I think I just can't get used to Yoshi's mechanics). I didn't beat the game though because it got extremely hard at the end.

Some people talk about this game like it ruined the Yoshi franchise, but I don't understand why.

1/10, Fuck you Baby Mario and your constant Wah wah wah sound and than when your an adult, u kill yoshi for a double jump? What a douche!!!

Loved this game on DS, never understood the mass hate.

I had no idea there was hate for the game. What's to hate? It was one of the best games on the DS.

Wow i just beat this game two days ago. honestly, i gave it a 7/10

1 yes because of the tedious difficulty near the end. mind you i love a good challenge, but trying to keep 30 stars, get the red coins and 5 flowers worlds 4 and 5 are ridiculous to the point they feel like you need devoted time to master. in comparison to SMW2, it's just out of control.

2 though i like the babies, again the need to force you to use each of them to 100 a level i felt was overdone. i felt like i only used mario 20% of the time through out the game

3. the soundtrack is very unimaginative and boring. SMW2 was epic on so many levels, and this was just a let down.

4. non the less i enjoyed the visuals of the game

5 though not horrible, the final battle(s) were not so amazing.

In short, i felt the game tries to expand on smw2, but actually goes overboard in every aspect except for the soundtrack. Here's hoping new yoshis island balances everything out.

Yoshi's Island DS is a pretty decent game. Even if it didn't  deserve all the hate it got when it was first released, it is still inferior compared to Yoshi's Island. The game gets very hard all the sudden near the end  unlike YI which got harder with each world. The final boss is also very bad and a joke compared to the YI's final boss. I personally like  how the babies are used and the game is full of secrets. A 8/10, maybe 8.5/10.
