Forums - Gaming Discussion - Metal Gear Solid V Confirmed 720P on Xbox One, 1080p on PS4, Screenshot Comparison Released

Ouch the xb1 has shown yet again it's struggles against the ps4 in multiplat games and that no "improvements" can deflect the fact that it has a much weaker gpu than the ps4's gpu.

Hideo Kojima Announced it a few days ago, and finally the much awaited Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes comparison showcasing the differences between the PS4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the game has finally been released.

Both Next generation versions have been announced to run at 60 FPS. PS4 will run at 1080p native, while Xbox One will run at 720p native.  Last generation versions (PS3 and Xbox 360) will run at 30 FPS, 720p (scaled internally)

It’s definitely rare to see a developer like Kojima-san be this open about the difference of his game on competing consoles, even if yesterday he mentioned on Twitter that the whole discourse “makes little sense” to him.

Being asked so often about differences in “frame rate” and “resolution” depending on the hardware model make little sense to me, but I listened, so I plan to publish it tomorrow (laughs).

… And indeed it came. And something tells me that many gamers will take this a lot more seriously than Kojima-san does.

Below you can see the screenshots, that actually compare just platforms of the same brand with each other, in a weird attempt to diplomacy. A trailer showcasing the differences has also been announced to be coming soon.

First 1080P 60FPS open world game on PS4?  That's not an indie.

Wow, they all look quite impressive!! Obviously the current gen looks better but I am impressed to see how far they have pushed the last gen!! Dat engine is epic!!

I was going to get this on PS3..but I just can't when I could be playing at 1080/60fps instead. One more reason to get a PS4.

Um, what the hell? The Current and last gen versions look identical to me. Sure there's the res and framerate difference, but I expected there to be an overall improvement in the visuals as well, like Tomb Raider.
