Fusioncode said: The PS4 isn't a huge like innovation like the Wii or Playstation, but it was the only console this gen that didn't completely screw up. The WIiU has next to no 3rd party support, and the XBO is more expensive with weaker specs. It also doesn't feel the need to force useless gimmicks on you like the gamepad or Kinect. Sure there's a touchpad added but it's unobtrusive. Sony basically won this gen by not being completely retarded. |
Innovation tends to be placed at a Higher Echelon than quality because of the success of the Wii
If anything, the Wii's success is because it caught onto the motion gaming fad at a time when everyone else, including smartphones and PC were just trying to get it right.
The Wii U is jumping on to the touch bandwagon late to the party, Smartphones and Tablets gaming are built on the premise of touch controls, Windows 8 and touch monitors have made it more or less mainstream. Innovation will no longer work here.
Its even worse with the Kinect which is still motion gaming, and its making the Xbox more expensive, which it cannot do without the brand appeal and Sony level first parties, (not even talking about Nintendo level 1st parties).
Essentially, Wii U's lost most of its Wii Base (not Nintendo Base), Xbox is straddeling casual and hardcore, and PS4 is gunning for the gaming market. The best part about Sony's strategy is that it can possibly attract more casuals than the Xb1 or Wii U through word of mouth,e.g people will ask gamers what they should get to game and since ps4 has larger marketshare it will tend to swing people more to ps4.
