Forums - Sales Discussion - Global SW & HW UP!! - Week ending Feb 8 (ADJUSTMENTS - PS4 157k, X1 54k, WiiU 36k - PS4 64% marketshare)

I think what are we starting to see is, a lot of people bought 2 or the 3 home consoles past gen. The people who started with Wii then bought a x360 and/or PS3, and the people who bought a x360 then bought a ps3 or viceversa.

It seems, that maybe this gen, the people who spent 300-400-500$ in a tablet and/or mobiles just want one home console this time, and it seems the choice is PS4. It's not that there are less players this time, just they're interested in less platforms or just one.

So this seems more and more like 6th gen. PS4 will sell very well, probably ps2 levels, or almost at least, and WiiU and XBox One will be like Gamecube and Xbox.

Maybe the hype on these forums are distorting VGCs job at trying to give a more modest analysis on that particular genre.

Well, we can't say that Phil Fish was wrong about japanese games going into the shitters.

I don't follow.

You weren't there when a fallout happened between Phil Fish and his comments about japanese games ?

What, he said Japanese games suck and that's why they're not selling well. But I don't see what Bravely Default, a Japanese game that does not suck which is selling decently, has to do with those comments.

PS3 sold 70k for the week ending 03 February 2007. And it wasn't even released in Europe yet. Xbone sales are truly horrendous.

Can Microsoft really make a comeback like Sony did? They don't have Europe to fall back on, and they don't have the first party output to attract buyers. They'll need some good moneyhats going forward.

Holidays ended, the hardcore Xbox fans got their console and now the effect of being $100 more expensive (and generally being a much smaller brand than PS in most countries) has kicked in, that happened.

OT: Doesn't Vgchartz normally adjust closer towards NPD numbers?

maybe adjustments will happen again for next weeks, i think it happened like that once before.

Also we dont get vita #s for NPD or do they just not care?

I think NPD Vita numbers were around 17k, so Vgchartz were pretty much spot on with them.

just checked, it said under 25k. So it can be anywhere from 10k-25k (17k right in the middle)

The PS4 is selling with no games, the power of hype is amazing. Just think about how well its going to sell once supply is in and the games are flowing.

Joe did

Based on the tittle of his thread, I don't think even he believed his prediction would come true.

That happened gradually as he saw its weekly sales in Jan (that have now been adjusted down)

Well yeah, that doesn't change that he didn't believe he was end up going to be right.

In any case...why are we even arguing about this?

Can I argue this? lol

I believed I was going to be right. I even made a one month sig control bet with Bananaking. Once VGCHARTZ data started coming in I began accepting defeat. I certainly didn't believe/expect VGCHARTZ to be overtracking by such a huge amount. I made jokes about NPD being my only chance for redemption. Turns out it was maybe.

I'm not sure what you consider to be selling well but for a niche JRPG like Bravely Default it's decent I think ... But the dudes seriously right when almost every japanese games have being getting lower quality each time with a new iteration and sales also show that customers don't SEEM to be satisfed with them.

Well in that case let me change my first post to: "I don't think anyone but JoeTheBro expected that"

Oh god, The industry is dying so damn quickly.

The Ps4 is fine.

And the home console industry is also fine. Just because people aren't rushing out like crazy to buy the X1 or Wii U doesn't mean that the industry is dying. People still want to game on consoles, it's just that the Wii U and X1 aren't all that appealing to many because of several reasons, MS and Nintendo need to fix the problems with their consoles and the people will come.

MS is probably going to do that and the X1 is going to sell fine, not PS4 levels but fine. I don't see Nintendo being able to fix the Wii U though.
