In the previous thread I was expecting it to happen in the week of inFamous launch so 21 March, now it looks like it's going to happen either on Japanese launch week or the next week, depending on Japanese demand on day 1. My money is on week ending March 1st.

But to be honest I was expecting both consoles to be pushing better numbers than they currently are.



So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Since the sales for Ps4 got adjusted up and are roughly 500k behind, i'm going to go ahead and say the Japanese launch is both going to put PS4 in first place, and make the gap between PS4 and Xbox One eye wateringly large.

Japan launch week is technically only one day of sales. Japan would need to carry give or take 300k in a single DAY assuming the west doesn't dip a bit as Sony allocates the majority of it's resources to the Japanese launch since it only happens once (which is a bad assumption to make).

No, Japanese launch is going to miss it by as much as 70k imo. Week ending March 1st is far more safe.

It's two days

The launch is the 22nd isn't it? Looking at my calendar, after the 15th, the next weekly sales should be the week ending the 22nd.

Unless I'm missing something, that means only one day of Japanese sales will be captured (the 22nd), right?

The Japanese sales weeks start and end one day later than the others, for some reason. So it's from the 17th to the 23rd.

Ahh, you're right. I guess that's to keep in line with Media Create.

I suppose launch week is certainly possible now, but I still don't want to get my hopes up.

i agree that PS3 may pass the Wii and hit 100M but for the entire gen it was not even close to being market leader if the PS3 does infact surpass the Wii it will be yrs form now making the milestone unimportant as the gen ran its course years ago 

with current sales, it will be hard enough for ps3 to reach 90M, let alone 100M.
