Forums - Gaming Discussion - The Vgchartz PC / "Next - Gen" Screenshot thread: Eye Melting Pixel Glory!

I'll also add that my PC has outpaced current games lol. These you have to remember are last gen games rendered at these resolutions so they are using last gen engines and techniques. Once games like Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition, Batman Arkham Knight, etc. release I'll be able to post MUCH more stunning shots. Still though last generation games on 4k resolutions are beautiful. Personally I think the Bioshock pics Im posting utterly annihilate the PS3 / 360 version.

Bioshock Infinite looks very pretty, but it's a bad show case for 4K.

It's kind of a problem too with selling 4K tvs atm. I was looking at a 70" 4K tv couple days ago, it had a 4k demo od after earth. You could easily see the difference between the 2K rendered backgrounds and the 4K actors. Next was a soccer match demo, sure looked great, I don't like soccer though. Not a lot if interesting content available.
All the other 1080p tvs did look very soft after that 70" 4K monster.

Let's see what The witcher 3 can pull off in 4K :)

I dont agree.

Everything looks better at 4k.  Everything.  If I posted 1080p shots of it it would look even worse.  Sure the game doesn't have great texture work but it still looks bad textured at 1080p. In fact the only difference between these shots and standard 1080p shots are the amount of aliasing is drastically reduced. There's zero reason to play anything under 4k if you can run it, as everything looks naturally better at 4k. Its the exact same thing as old games rendered in 1080p they look dramatically improved in terms of image quality.

In fact things like texture work, lighting, etc. are now days the least important things to me. Sure they are nice "eye candy" but my number 1 priority with graphics now days is image quality. High resolutions with high anti aliasing. I admit it won't be the same for everyone as some would prefer higher res textures at lower resolutions but honestly those types of games image quality really hurts the picture for me. Thats not to say I don't enjoy sub 4k games as I love my Xbox 1 and PS4 but its just a personal preference.

Oh, I don't disagree that 4K makes everything look better. Just that it doesn't show off what you can do with the resolution. The best demos I've seen so far was the soccer match, you could see the whole field, all the players and the stands clearly. And Googlemaps in an earlier demo, full roadmap in 4K.

As you said it's the same as running ps2 classics in HD. They look better than ever, but also very obviously not made for 1080p. It's quite a high price tag currently for better anti aliasing.

Talking about not made for 1080p, I thought the downgrades for Forza 5 were exaggerated, but those screenshots look pretty bad for gen 8. I guess it looks better in motion.

Another game, Outlast, that doesn't need 4K, at least not judging by ps4 screenshots.
It did manage to make me jump a few times, haven't had that happen in a long time.

That last picture, night vision mode, seems to be the default view for the second half of the game (well at least upto what I've played) It just keeps getting darker.

Ok, how do I get those nasty Screenshots from my Ps4 to my PC? I heard something about the mobile app, looked there hooked it up with the PS4, found nothing. And I don't wanna upload to facebook or twitch because I ain't got an account for those and also I heard the quality suffers a lot.

Any tips? Thanks in advance.

Oh yeah I agree then kinda just misunderstood you a bit.

And as for Forza it looks nothing like the reveal trailer. Huge downgrades in visuals.

I tried to find a better solution too, but ended up making a fake facebook account with an email address I don't use. It compresses them down to 160 - 240 kb jpg. At least it's fast and easy to use. Share, copy image location, paste, done.

You can mail screenshots to a vita, maybe there is a way to get them off the vita. (I don't have one)

Nice screens you guys. Good to see CGI was here. Keep it up.
