There are always a ton of rumors floating around, and it's hard to know which ones, if any, are worth considering. And people have different standards, there's no doubt, with respect to what they'll believe.

The question I ask is what factors contribute to your willingness to invest in a given rumor, short of confirmation? Or better yet, what makes a "good" rumor?

Just make the rumor against Nintendo and have the source as anonymous and your done! Everyone will believe it!

Something that's totally out there but somehow makes enough sense to be possibly true.

If its from gaf or reputable news websites like IGN, Eurogamer, Kotaku, etc. It's petty reliable since those sites are staking their reputation on being reliable. Gaf not so much, but they do get a lot right.

What makes a good rumor?

I guess you can call it a good rumor if it can get a lot of people talking about the topic in said rumor. But it's kind of hard for me to view them as good, they are either lying or telling the truth and time always tells the truth. In the end the rumors that were lies are still considered good by some people just because of the amount of people it had hyped or believing.

For example, MisterXmedia created some rather interesting rumors that had lots of people believing in what he was saying about the dGPU.

Was that rumor good? Yea, it had a lot of people believing, but it was a lie. The lie part was not good.

If it's about Nintendo, it's never true
If it's about Microsoft, it's always true
If it's about Sony, 50-50

If it favors my bias then it's all good!

Apparently it just has to come out of GAF

They would rue the day that an actual SUPER rumor came from here.

GAF couldn't link the source cause we banned from that place.

Valve related rumors are always good.  It's just so fun to see  gamers get so excited over something that won't happen anytime soon( Half-Life 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Portal 3, etc...).......... Even if I was guilty of this at some point.
